Martha's Dishes Made My Kids Sick!

A Pennsylvania couple is suing Martha Stewart Living and K-Mart, claiming the domestic diva's "Everyday" dinnerware -- with the lovely name "Flowers and Buds Border" -- contains lead and is responsible for poisoning their children. Get the lead out!

In the lawsuit, filed on behalf of their two kids Michael and Matthew, Sandra and Raymond Dombroski allege the boys were poisoned by lead in the dinnerware, which caused the boys to suffer "mental, emotional and cognitive impairment, learning disability" as well as speech problems and physical impairment and a host of other problems. That's not a good thing!

Flowers and Buds dishesThe Dombroskis say that the lead problem is a result of "negligent, reckless, intentional and outrageous conduct of MSLO..." (that's Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia), and they've served up a heaping lawsuit asking for compensatory and punitive damages.

A spokesperson for MSLO told TMZ "We take consumer product safety very seriously. We do not comment on pending litigation."

16. How much overeating was done on these plates? I think that would be the only way one could suffer physical impairment. I feel sorry for the children, with their parents being cousins and all.

19. And what is their proof the dishes have lead? Test results, something. Let me see that. Are they suing the store that sold the dishes too?

20. Frivilous lawsuit? Where are the plates made? Could they also be manufactured in China? As parents, I would hope they had teh plates tested and if there is a lead content in the plates - What would you do? If not, it's frivilous!

23. This is why people should buy their diinerware from me, and folks like me. American made arts and crafts are 100% free of lead.
Stop buying dangerous imports. Support American small industries.

24. To poster #13 aka sick of it all: You lecture to people about intelligence and maturity, yet feel there is nothing wrong with wishing "the pain of this preventable affliction" on other families. Hmm.. seems to me someone needs a great big heaping plateful of their own advice.

RE the lead in the dishes. It could be true, it could be a ploy to make some money. Nobody knows for sure yet. I certainly hope that it's a ploy and not fact. Only time will tell.

25. Listen up people, the famous ones that put their name on goods need to find better middle management for lead checking. Recently, here in Detroit area there was a special on lead testing. The news guy was announcing lead testing on whatever you wanted for free at a specified location for the day. Interesting thing is he grabbed one of his own plates on the way out the door to have tested for the heck of it. Beautiful dish, looked expensive.....tested 400 times higher than our government allows. He wasn't too happy. Keep the work in the U.S. China is poisoning all of us!

27. Seems unlikely that if this were the case that it would affect only one family.
Or maybe sales of the dinnerware are doing REALLY poorly!!!!!!
And what about the other family members???? Don't they eat off dishes?????
Had to be toys from China!!!!!!!!

By the way TMZ, your blogging software SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!
It doesn't capture every letter you type, so you spend more time fixing mistakes
IN ADDITION, what's with the tiny font in the entry space?????
FINALLY, it's been losing my posts. I otten just GIVE UP. Not good for business
SO FIX IT!!!!!!!!!!!!

29. Sick of it all you are a dumb ass. I know someone who works for Mattle. A child would have to suck on a toy for over 7 years non stop to get sick from the paint on the toy.

30. I don't understand why people are attacking the parents here. If your children suffered an illness and you learned your plates contained too much lead and was likely the cause, what would YOU do? If people read the news and pay attention to the products being imported into America, they will start to realize that China is bombarding us with inferior products containing leads and toxins and it's poisoning us. You should be glad these people are fighting - so that maybe the next time you buy new plates they will be safe. China doesn't have anywhere near the safety regulations and standards America has and environemntally we are ALL paying the price, including the Chinese citizens. Everything, including products we use every day to the air we breath has suffered.
