R.I.P.
Sam the Butcher to the Deep Freeze

Actor Allan Melvin, best known to "Brady Bunch" fans as Sam the Butcher, boyfriend of Alice -- has gone to the big meat market in the sky.

Melvin died in Los Angeles on Thursday at age 84. He starred in old school hits like "The Phil Silvers Show" and "All in the Family" -- but will best be remembered as Ann B. Davis' meat makin' hottie.

31. Numerous readers can read about Britneys latest hijinks elsewhere.
TMZ you better clean up your act fast or we'll all be gone.
I think you better post a apology regarding your headline and the actor
in general. Do it while its early and people are willing to forgive.

32. WTF? When did you guys become so tasteless? If I wanted tacky headlines, I would go to Perez's page!
I have always thought TMZ was a little classier than the other gossip pages, but after seeing the Two Minute Warning headline, Frontiere Kicks It, & now, Sam in the Deep Freeze, I think you guys are sinking even lower than they do.

Following Britney Spears everywhere has rubbed off on you, TMZ, you are self-destructing in front of our eyes. You are becoming the trainwreck of tabloid journalism.

Sad.

33. I am glad to see (or hear, rather) the disappointment in the responses with regard to the lack of respect at someone's death.
Granted, none of us come to TMZ expecting Pulitzer prize winning journalism but for the love of god, a simple RIP would suffice. Or "Farewell Sam" something of that nature. This headline actually beats out the one of the Rams owner, I think, and I didn't think that was going to be possible.

34. I wonder if someone will write terribly disrespectful things about all of the TMZ writers when they die? I am done with this website. It is nothing but trash as well as the people who write it. I feel sorry for you if this is the way you earn your living. Go out and help people instead of tearing them down. Shame on you!

36. OK...if you think it (TMZ) is so bad, why keep coming back for more? Actually, I don't think it was ugly or disrespectful but kind of affectionate....everyone liked Sam the butcher...being in the "deep freeze" was part of his job on the Brady Bunch---probably the biggest role of his career. A couple of weeks ago I saw Merv Griffin's tombstone. On it is the inscription "I will not be right back after this message" followed by his DOB and DOD. Sure we are all sad when we lose our loved ones. I think it would have been more terrible not to say anything about him. I'm glad TMZ posted a photograph of him and Alice...it brings back some fond memories. As a kid, I always wondered whether Sam and Alice ever "did it".

I suppose this board wouldn't exist if we all felt the same way about everything.

To his family: he brought alot of smiles to alot of people...remembering him as Sam on The Brady Bunch brings back a special memory I had as a kid. May he rest in peace.

40. Really TMZ, what the hell is wrong with your Senior Editor? These comments bring you down more than you realize. Probably like Dr. Phil, your popularity will be short-lived if you keep this up. Enjoy it while you have it - there are plenty of websites like this. You've got your share of competition, so get it together and think these headlines through before you pay the ultimate price. We'll just move on to bigger and better websites, no worries from our end.

41. If you don't like it and are offended, then fine, simply go away! But when they rip on whatever star you dislike, then I'm sure you'll be happily clicking away. I personally like a site that is so open. Yeah, it can be offensive almost every day, but what else do you expect?

He certainly made a lot of people laugh.

45. Is this the old idea of any publicity or controversy is good for those who peddle it? Are you folks hoping for the day when Britney Spears dies young? Do you people have any compassion or common sense? Sad doesn't begin to describe the depths to which this site has sunk. You should be ashamed. Sadly, you probably could care less.
