R.I.P.
Sam the Butcher to the Deep Freeze

Actor Allan Melvin, best known to "Brady Bunch" fans as Sam the Butcher, boyfriend of Alice -- has gone to the big meat market in the sky.

Melvin died in Los Angeles on Thursday at age 84. He starred in old school hits like "The Phil Silvers Show" and "All in the Family" -- but will best be remembered as Ann B. Davis' meat makin' hottie.

46. He was a great character actor that was in a lot of shows. I remember him from the Andy Griffith show ... he showed up in Mayberry!

47. TMZ is disgusting but none moreson that when they put a blatant headline such as this for a wonderful actor who just passed away. Anyway to grab peoples attention.
Please show some respect.

48.

On December 30, 2007, the media watchdog website, Tabloid Baby, named Levin its Journalist of The Year for 2007 [2], stating: “Who did more damage to entertainment reporting in 2007 than Harvey Levin?... he and his gutter operation… almost singlehandedly transformed Hollywood entertainment reporting into a gutter-level street battle fueled by self-hatred, jealousy and anger, with no concern for what once determined greatness, excellence or fame…” (wikipedia.org)

To TMZ, apparently it is much more eye-catching and profitable to insult in death those people who never did anything to harm them in life than to take the high road every once in a while.

49. What's the deal with the tasteless headlines? Not funny just very mean and poor taste. REAL classy site.

51. TMZ doesn't seem to have an editor or maybe they just fail to care about class and compassion. Just because someone doesn't bother to write it, doesn't mean it's okay to just slam the guys entire life and career with such insensitive words. TMZ can still present the news, but should consider adding some sense of respect to it's site.

52. Come on TMZ! Have a tiny bit of class when you are reporting that someone is dead. I like your site and tv show, but this is over the line tacky!

54. Your obits of late are very disturbing. Its a shame to think that peoples lives are valued only at what headline you can come up with. Allan Melvin had class, though, and thats plenty more than I can say of those who work for TMZ. Instead of the incredibly disgusting write up you had, maybe you should read more about him and learn a thing or two of how to be a decent person. You should be ashamed of yourselves. Really. Time to grow up mentally, don't you think? Obviously not.

57. When I was younger I used to watch him in black & white sitcoms such as Andy Griffith and Gomer Pyle,USMC. I also watched him in The Brady Bunch, which was more in my age range, but for some reason I remember him more from the old b&w classics. He was a good bit part actor. I don't know of any shows or movies where he was one of the lead characters.

59. "How much is that gorilla in the window?" says lil' Ogee.............

Allan Melvin was also the voice for "Magilla Gorilla".

I LOVE the Brady Bunch STILL to this day. When I call in hungover.....I mean........sick to work, I look for the show on TV Land!

God Bless & Rest In Peace, Allan! You were truly a different & classier Hollywood gentleman!

60. Your headline is reprehensible, insensitive and totally uncalled for. Uncle Allan was a friend of the family and a talented, warm man. His lovely wife Amalia and family would not appreciate your headline. May he rest in peace, free from TMV.
