It's Not a Bad Dream: Suzanne Pleshette Dies

TV wife Suzanne Pleshette died at her home in Los Angeles last night at age 70, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Just last September, while undergoing treatment, she appeared at a 35th anniversary event celebrating "The Bob Newhart Show."

Suzanne was married in 2001 to "Newhart" actor Tom Poston, who died in 2007.

Pleshette got a really big break in 1963, when Alfred Hitchcock cast her in "The Birds." She married heartthrob Troy Donahue the following year. Her most unforgettable appearance, however, was in the classic final episode of "Newhart," when she rolled over and revealed that the whole show had been a dream.

can't think of his name. They had a nasty split! It was not Troy, but the husband after him. She was a beautiful lady!

66. My mother-in-law had lung cancer and didn't beat it. She was only 59 and that's really sad that she died so young. She smoked alot and we knew it was causing real damage. Stop smoking if you can, it's a real hard habit to quit!!!

67. Sorry Lenn K. Good advice. I am very lucky my mom made it. She was determined to beat it and did thankfully just with surgery. I was carrying my youngest at the time, and it was really hard. It's 5 years later and thankfully it all worked out for my family. Condolences to you and yours.

70. Why Lenn K, I see you're around to spread your filth on a dead comedienne's story. Jesus, get off your high horse - nobody thinks you're morally superior other than you. Now be a good little boy and go back to watching the Military Channel.

Suzanne P was a gifted comedienne and actress who spent much of the last 10-15 years mentoring many actors/actresses - even Lindsay Lohan! I read a wonderful article in the LA Times (within the last 6 months) about Suzanne's work for many charities. They showed a picture of her with Dina Lohan & Stedman at a fundraiser you'd never know she was so sick! She was a lovely celebrity who gave much of her time to worthwhile causes. You will be GREATLY miss, Suzanne.

Now Lenn K - go away!

Tom Poston was a lovely, kind man. I was so happy when they got together. He is missed as well.

My deepest sympathies to Suzanne & Tom's family.

74. While it is true she was a heavy smoker, and it contributed to her death, it in no way diminishes the fact that she was a lovely and extremely talented person who will be greatly missed.
