It's Not a Bad Dream: Suzanne Pleshette Dies

TV wife Suzanne Pleshette died at her home in Los Angeles last night at age 70, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Just last September, while undergoing treatment, she appeared at a 35th anniversary event celebrating "The Bob Newhart Show."

Suzanne was married in 2001 to "Newhart" actor Tom Poston, who died in 2007.

Pleshette got a really big break in 1963, when Alfred Hitchcock cast her in "The Birds." She married heartthrob Troy Donahue the following year. Her most unforgettable appearance, however, was in the classic final episode of "Newhart," when she rolled over and revealed that the whole show had been a dream.

83. a world without Suzanne Pleshette is a sadder one. she was one of a dying breed of old-school actresses that could do it with class and a sense of humor - and talent. she will truly be missed here but I'm glad she's up there now with her beloved hubby, Tom Poston.

85. I had the pleasure of running into her in a restaurant in Los Angeles about 10 years ago. I heard her voice and turned around...she was stunningly beautiful, and wearing minimal makeup. She had THE most beautiful eyes I've EVER seen...I was so excited to see her, as I was a fan of the Bob Newhart show. She was a classy lady, and she will be missed.

Lenn, you NEVER say kind things about these young girls who happen to be celebrities. And I'm shocked that you aren't ranting about Suzanne (may she RIP) and her smoking. 88. She was one of my favorite actors. I remember her in the Bob Newhart show. She was so funny in that show. She was a very pretty classy lady, and will be missed.
