Dr. Phil Unapologetic for Brit Visit

Dr. Phil hit the airwaves today to defend his hospital visit to Britney Spears -- he just wishes he hadn't blabbed about it to everyone after!

Check out his semi-apology.

16. I beleave if he was really trying to help he would not have told the world and he would not have been trying to put a show together about her.

17. HEY Big MAN - learn the ropes. You don't go where you are not invited and then just blow the whole thing off. Learn to live BY THE RULES! You are NOT LICENSED to go parading around on TV like a REAL Dr. If you want that - then get your license back! Your judgement lacks living in the real world - with real peole - NOT the nut cases on the TV show.

18. Yeah, she's doing SO WELL without his advice. Good on him for trying, and for backing up a bit with dignity.

19. Sorry Dr. Phil. I'm not buying it. Even if her family invited him, he knows damn well he is not licensed to practice, he knows he's not a member of the staff at Cedars, so he knows that even with an invitation, the absolute only thing he can do is show up and invite her to his show. He can't treat her so he would have had to get her to sign a release that it's all for entertainment purposes only. What the hell good is THAT going to do her?

He should have told her parents when they called him to get a real doctor that could actually do something. There is no way I'll ever believe he was doing anything but try to get a TV show out of it for ratings. I'll never watch his show again.

20. Hopey-joe - he WAS invited. If that's what you think, then why are you sticking your opinion out there without being asked?

21. DR Phil is usually very sensible, with the exception of a few mistakes Ive seen him make on his show. However I can;t imagine him being so dumb as to make a mistake like giving information of Britneys that should have remained private until her family said it could be released publicly. He really goofed, Without a doubt I'm sure he realizes what a dumb mistake he made.

22. Hey mrphil, your personal inventory needs to be audited. You obviously do not possess the humility to admit that you had no business confronting Britney. You do not have the skills, the training, the demeanor, or ever was invited to do an intervention by the ONLY person who had the right to ask you for help. A friend would have respected the sick individual and respected the PROFESSIONALS to do their job. A qualified mental health expert would already have determined that the parents you claim are your friends are unstable themselves and are the last people to be interfering in her treatment. I'm done with this subject, you need to stop beating that dead pony and walk away. You have some formal complaints to deal with, don't you?

24. Britney is an adult. She is the one that should determine who does and does not visit her, period. I really don't understand these Dr. Phil apologists. I am amazed, that you allow all of the people who are on television: Oprah, Dr. Phil and Rachael Ray just to name a few, to have so much power over you. You need to think for yourself people. Blaze your own trail, live your on life, not preach at the altar of St. Oprah and her minions.

26. Umm, Joe, #14, Brittany is an adult and her father had no legal standing to invite a doctor to her room (Phil, of course, knows this). Do you think "Dr." Phil would have gone to see her if she were not a celebrity? Nooooo. I hope he and the hospital both get $anctioned for their behavior.

P.S. Phil's wife is NOT good looking. Has Chiclets for teeth. Butts her dwarfy self in where she doesn't belong too. Guess that is why she and Phil get along.

P.S.S. Phil is divorced and cheated on his first wife--why she left him. The first wife also said he was 'domineering." Imagine that. From Wikepedia:

Not content with a monogamous relationship, McGraw had multiple affairs with other women. McCall (his first wife) stated, "When I confronted him about his infidelities he didn't deny these girls and told me that it had nothing to do with his feelings toward me, to grow up, that's the way it was in the world." The relationship ended when she left him in 1973.

Ha! Ever see the old blowhard on t.v. acting sanctimonious with other people who cheat? What a hypocrite.

27. Sigh...
"Dr" Phil, you still don't get it -- TOO LITTLE TOO LATE!!!
So lets recap, shall we...
First, you aren't a licensed practtioner and had no business offering your snake oil services to a person who should be getting serious professional attention
Second, you broke the law by commandeering yourself onto an adult without their consent
Third, you blabbed, with is a breach of ethics both professional and MORAL
So where does that leave you???
- facing scruitiny (and hopefully sanctions) by the appropriate governing authorities
- more importantly, facing the court of public opinion, from whom you've made millions selling snake oil. And they have pronounced you GUILTY and no longer support your show, your products, or YOU

And as for you and everyone else who thinks Brit's NEED for help as justification your gross intervention...
- how would you feel if it had been Tom Cruise who'd intervened
- how would you feel if some religious freak decided to perform an exorcism on her
THERE IS A REASON THERE ARE LAWS GOVERNING THE TREATMENT OF PEOPLE IN THIS COUNTRY, AND YOU ARE NOT ABOVE THEM!!!!!!!!

28. What worries me about America is how many people think Dr. Phil is some God-like hero. He must be laughing himself about that - how easy people are to fool.

He doesn't have a license in Texas because of a "problem" with a female patient (apparently, he let the license lapse rather than follow all the stipulations on him to barely keep his license after the "problem"). He doesn't have a psychology license anywhere. Solution: Go on TV and fool people in far greater masses and earn millions. People with problems / people in need of help = people to exploit in Dr. Phil's book.

Disgusting.

29. Kelli, I agree with you. He tried, he learned, he apologized. Just because he had a small role on the Britney Show doesn't give anyone the right to be a bit-player hater.

30. #28 The media also said that he was not invited by Britney who is an adult, period. Britney is the one that should have said yeah or nay to seeing Dr. Phil, not her family.
