Dr. Phil Unapologetic for Brit Visit

Dr. Phil hit the airwaves today to defend his hospital visit to Britney Spears -- he just wishes he hadn't blabbed about it to everyone after!

Check out his semi-apology.

31. Sigh...
"Dr" Phil, you still don't get it -- TOO LITTLE TOO LATE!!!
So lets recap, shall we...
First, you aren't a licensed practtioner and had no business offering your snake oil services to a person who should be getting serious professional attention
Second, you broke the law by commandeering yourself onto an adult without their consent
Third, you blabbed, with is a breach of ethics both professional and MORAL
So where does that leave you???
- facing scruitiny (and hopefully sanctions) by the appropriate governing authorities
- more importantly, facing the court of public opinion, from whom you've made millions selling snake oil. And they have pronounced you GUILTY and no longer support your show, your products, or YOU

And as for you and everyone else who thinks Brit's NEED for help as justification your gross intervention...
- how would you feel if it had been Tom Cruise who'd intervened
- how would you feel if some religious freak decided to perform an exorcism on her
THERE IS A REASON THERE ARE LAWS GOVERNING THE TREATMENT OF PEOPLE IN THIS COUNTRY, AND YOU ARE NOT ABOVE THEM!!!!!!!!

32. Umm, Joe, #14, Brittany is an adult and her father had no legal standing to invite a doctor to her room (Phil, of course, knows this). Do you think "Dr." Phil would have gone to see her if she were not a celebrity? Nooooo. I hope he and the hospital both get $anctioned for their behavior.

P.S. Phil's wife is NOT good looking. Has Chiclets for teeth. Butts her dwarfy self in where she doesn't belong too. Guess that is why she and Phil get along.

P.S.S. Phil is divorced and cheated on his first wife--why she left him. The first wife also said he was 'domineering." Imagine that. From Wikepedia:

Not content with a monogamous relationship, McGraw had multiple affairs with other women. McCall (his first wife) stated, "When I confronted him about his infidelities he didn't deny these girls and told me that it had nothing to do with his feelings toward me, to grow up, that's the way it was in the world." The relationship ended when she left him in 1973.

Ha! Ever see the old blowhard on t.v. acting sanctimonious with other people who cheat? What a hypocrite.

33. From someone who thought highly of Dr. Phil, yet totally was deeply disappointed by how he handled the Britney Spears situation, he has shown himself to be a true professional as well as decent human being by admitting that "how" he handled the situation was not right. I do believe that his intentions were ultimately honorable. He did want to help. It would have been better had he done it in a private way. He knows that, admitted that...and I hope at some point he can still help Britney...privately...at least to persuade her that she needs help. Not all of us are waiting for her demise. As a mother, it grieves me that any "child" or family should have to live this! I pray that someone can reach her, because she is worth reaching.

34. Kelli, I agree with you. He tried, he learned, he apologized. Just because he had a small role on the Britney Show doesn't give anyone the right to be a bit-player hater.

35. What worries me about America is how many people think Dr. Phil is some God-like hero. He must be laughing himself about that - how easy people are to fool.

He doesn't have a license in Texas because of a "problem" with a female patient (apparently, he let the license lapse rather than follow all the stipulations on him to barely keep his license after the "problem"). He doesn't have a psychology license anywhere. Solution: Go on TV and fool people in far greater masses and earn millions. People with problems / people in need of help = people to exploit in Dr. Phil's book.

Disgusting.

36. #28 The media also said that he was not invited by Britney who is an adult, period. Britney is the one that should have said yeah or nay to seeing Dr. Phil, not her family.

37. At least Dr. Phil tried! Brit loves publicity, so its logical that she might have wanted to talk to Dr. Phil and get her side of the story out / explain her actions + appear on TV.
Quit slamming Dr. Phil. He did not say anything that everyone else did not already know. I don't see anyone else going out of their way to try to help her.

38. 28. Excuse me, #25, Mirror, Mirror, as stupid as you can be, I SAID HE WAS INVITED THE MEDIA SAID SO, And you are sticking your stupid opinion out here too, so stop be a dumb hypocrite. You obviously cant read, I SAID he was invited.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Problem is, Joe, he WASN'T invited by the one person who had a right to invite him and that's Britney. Secondly, Phil knows he is not licensed to practice so what was he going there for? Only one reason. Ratings for his show. I do not believe for one second he had any altruistic "I want to help Britney" reasons. It was for the show and for ratings. Since he has no license, there really can't be any other reason.
How's that working out for you, Dr. Phil?
39. Also from Wikipedia:
The Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists imposed disciplinary sanctions on McGraw on January 27, 1989 for an inappropriate "dual relationship" reported in 1988 by a therapy client/employee from 1984. McGraw was ordered by the Board to take an ethics class, pass a jurisprudence exam, complete a physical evaluation, undergo a psychological evaluation and have his practice supervised for one year in order to continue his private practice in Texas. McGraw admits to giving the client a "job" at his office (which is not allowed), but denied carrying on a sexual relationship with the 19 year old, who says their relationship was "sexually inappropriate."[26][2][11] As of 2008, McGraw has not completed the conditions imposed by the Board of Examiners of Psychologists, and he is not licensed to practice psychology in Texas, California or anywhere else.
40. If he was sincere in wishing he hadn't made it public why does he keep making it public?
41. All you haters should be attacking Adnan, Brits new pap "friend", instead of Dr. Phil. Dr. Phil did nothing wrong but creepy Adnan is taking advantage of Brit to cash in on a big story. Adnan is a bad influence and Brit's enabler! You should all be directing your attacks on Adnan!
42. Dr. Phil..... I for one am so sick of this windbag. I hope someone sees sense and takes this guy off the air once and for all. His show only serves as a vehicle to sell his vacuous self-help books. This guy thinks way to highly of himself and needs to be taken down a peg or two.
44. The more I think about it... At least he TRIED to do something!
45. # 41 - Good info. The DIVORCED and sanctimonious Phil was married to "I have Chiclets for teeth" Robin and had two small children when he was sanctioned for having an affair with a 19-y.o. I knew that ugly, bald blowhard bushwhacked around. And he thinks Brittany needs an intervention?
