Dr. Phil Unapologetic for Brit Visit
Dr. Phil hit the airwaves today to defend his hospital visit to Britney Spears -- he just wishes he hadn't blabbed about it to everyone after!
Check out his semi-apology.

91. I just watched his show and what he had to say, and I think a lot of people have criticized him more than he deserved! If you listen to what he just said today on the show, HE DOES have the education to back him for this situation, HOWEVER, he went to see Britney because he was asked to and he is a friend of Lynn Spears. He also stated that he NEVER had the intentions of treating Britney, but would have guided her to someone, with whom he felt would be able o help her. He also stated that he FOLLOWED the rules and guidelines that Cedars has. Also stated is that he DOES NOT do private practice any longer and wishes not to in the future!!He does have a PHD, therefore, he does earn the right to be called, Dr.. He does regret making any kind of statement after visiting Britney! At least he can come on TV and admit when he is wrong, which says a lot about the guy. He DID plan on doing a show about Britney BEFORE she was taken to Cedars, and also stated that Britney would not have been on the show anyhow.
I do not believe that he overstepped the boundaries when it came to this situation. He was asked to go and see her, and that is what he did. He has a right to be on television, as he does have the education and degrees behind him. We all come on these boards and offer our opinions about the situations, so what makes that different then what Dr. phil did? Absolutely nothing, except, he has a degree and most of us don't for this kind of "illness". Now, had the paps just took pictures of Dr. Phil being at Cedars that day, and that he did not give a comment, then some would be mad that he didn't say anything in public about the situation. Can't have it both ways. Lastly, the world clearly sees that she is in dire need of some form of help-that is no secret. Some people are damned if they do and damned if they don't. I think he was not in the wrong for going to see her, at the request of her family and I appaud him for being a man and admitting if he did wrong by making a comment and saying it publicly!

92. Britney needs help and people should just stop bashing Dr. Phil, he is a good man and he tried to help. This chick needs all the help she can get. I am a huge fan of Dr. Phil and his no excuses type attitude when it come to helping people. He will be just fine.

JAY HIS SON HAS NO TALENT AT ALL THE ONLY THING HE HAS IS A DRY UP PLAYBOY WIFE HO.
THE YOUNGER SON JORDON LOOKS OK HIS NOT ON HIS DADDY SHOW ALL THE TIME TRYING TO ACT LIKE A STAR.

94. Dr. Phil is a big, fat, giant douchebag x 20

95. how can a gazillion people including dr phil be wrong? Ah, the eloquent behaviors of denial & the proudly schitzophrenic, ya'll
96. He is a media attention getter.
A doctor who really cared would gone to be a counselor for the person in need (if they wanted it), NOT do a sneak attack and then go straight to the media about it.
He knows that his actions are unethical and in some areas they are against he law.
Doctor/patient confientality, what is that Dr. Phil.
Something you may do unless there are loads of money to be made by selling out your patient?
So, he is NOT sorry for what he did (which was just wrong) he is ONLY sorry that he got caught!
Yeah that just makes me see him such a different light. QUACK!

97. Oh the young. How little you know. How silly you are.
For months you have cried "Help her". Someone does and you pounce like a wild animal.
The whole situation blown out of this world. Yes. And we have all of you to thank for that. Calling names and totally out of control is all you know. GROW UP!!

99. Mr. Phil McGraw needs to have his show cancelled. He and his mentor, Oprah Winfrey, have both jumped the shark and I hope their fans wake up to what frauds they are and stop supporting them. Do not watch their shows, buy their books, magazines or anything else they have to peddle.
Robyn Mc Graw, his Stepford wife, looks like a fool appearing on his show. I read she has to go there to make sure he doesn't molest any female staff as he was alleged to have done in Texas.
The D.A. should prosecute him to the max. and I hope all the legitimate psychologists pursure their requests for disciplinary measures for Phil McGraw, SOS (Snake Oil Salesman). He has made millions victimizing the public and the IRS should also investigate the McGraws.

101. Phil Mc Graw is really insulting Cedars! He is trying to worm his way out of this by saying he was going to refer Britney to someone who could help her. Wouldn't that be up to the doctor(s) at Cedars who treated and evaluated her??? They deemed her fit to be released and would make any necessary referrals as part of a discharge plan, would they not. McGraw is waaay out of line imo.

102. I firmly believe Dr.Phil is a coward. His ego rules above all. He wanted a celeb for his show and thought her meltdown was a good opportunity to get a celeb and he had no thought or care for her. Brit had doctors and he had no business being there. She was where she needed to be and he stuck his nose in for his show and his show only. Down with Dr.Phil! jmo

103. well I have literally seen him destroy people up close on his shows taping and as the person falls apart by a well orchestrated mental ambush by he and his staff as a means of disarming them. then he moves in to destroy them not in the name of therapy but in the name of entertainment...and ratings..the general public is allowed to think this phd who isnt licienced in california and quite possibly hasnt kept up his texas one is a real professional...I wonder what a study show of former guests and the incidence of major depressive episodes he has caused as well as suicidal idealization..well he isnt a professional people!....most dont know he had complaints against him for inapproriate contact with a former patient under 21...rather than have his practice monitored for a year as a result he chose to go into the jury selection process...because he loves a blood sport....he destroys people for his own sick pleasure ,..the guest on his show think he is a professional and are in no way prepared for his unprofessional tatics...he is informed by staff of the guests weaknesses any fears or mental unstableness or phobias... and he goes straight for them...if they have been abused watched how he invades their personal space getting into much to close raising his voice..intimadating them by his big size etc,... no true professional would do that..This giving him the advantage of the mental ambush and feeding his ego...he calls guest names as he lifts a index cards to his mouth so no one can see and makes sure they have cut his mic off....the guests as they fall apart are then rushed to a waiting car for the airport before the audience can grasp what he has really done...he doesnt meet with guest before hand or audience ...I hope true good professionals make sure he is punished by law...because he and his show set up a dangerous concept of no ethics and absolute wrong professional behavior and treatment methods...it is so dangerous to anyone who hasnt done their homework on who he really is or how true mental health workers are schooled to act in order to treat fractured minds and hearts

104. For all of you people who are saying "Well, at least he tried to do something", remember the old adage: "the road to hell is paved with good intentions".
On his website "Dr." Phil says that he went to see Britney as a friend -- sorry but that still does not make what he did ok.
Whether he went to help her in a professional capacity or as a friend, to talk about it afterwards and in such a public manner is reprehensible!
The media and paparazzi are enabling Britney's problems and the last thing she needs is more negative publicity -- Dr. Phil, as a friend (or professional) should have realized that.
Frankly I don't know what to make of Dr. Phil any more... he starts his show with jokes, regardless of how serious the topic is and his remedy is more often than not sending the people away for professional treatment in some high priced, exclusive clinic/treatment center. What about those out there who really need help but don't have the resources available? What if they don't want to buy his books? What if they're actually looking for help but are getting simplified, gratuitous entertainment?
Perhaps Dr. Phil did have good intentions... in the beginning, but heat some point the show became more important than the people who need help. "You can't change what you don't acknowledge". You're a celebrity, not a doctor. You've managed to coin a number of good catch phrases but you are irresponsible with your own behaviour, sadly to the detriment of Britney.
Dr. Phil has turned into a caricature of himself, not to mention a victim of his own celebrity.

105. Dr. Phil says he was there to "help" Britney as a friend. I didn't know they were personal friends. I agree with most of the sentiments I have read. It would have been wiser for Dr. Phil to immediately admit that he had a serious lapse of judgement, rather than try to defend his inexcusable actions. I stronly believe he was there to promote his show and not for atruisic resons. I also agree that he routiney ambushes, verbally abuses and psychologically harms some of his guests. He sets them up then zeros in for the klll. He has a very arrogant and condescening manner, and repeatedly holds himself, and his family, as paragones of viture, the all-american family and the only family in th U.S. who is not dysfunctional -- almost like the fictional Ozzie an Harriet show.
I do, however, disagree with he nasty comments about his wife Robin. She appears to be a very good and well-intendd person. She strikes me as a very decent, genuine and kind-hearted person. Leave her alone you mean-spirited bloggers. Afterall, we are talking about Dr. Phil's actions and not hers (p.s. don't dog on his goldfish either).
