Heath Ledger is Dead

Heath Ledger TMZ has learned that 2006 Academy Award nominee Heath Ledger has died in NY.

He was found dead in his bed in one of his residences in Soho by his housekeeper at 3:35 PM ET today. Law enforcement sources tell TMZ they believe it was not a crime, adding that prescription pills were found near his body.

According to NYPD a masseuse arrived at Ledger's apartment and was let in by a housekeeper. When Ledger didn't answer his bedroom door, the housekeeper and the masseuse opened it and found him unconscious. They attempted to wake him; when they couldn't, they called 911.

We're told when paramedics responded, the actor was in full cardiac arrest. They attempted to perform CPR on him, but were unsuccessful. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 28-year-old actor has a two year old daughter with former fiancee Michelle Williams -- they separated in September, 2007. He plays The Joker in the upcoming Batman film, "The Dark Knight" and is perhaps best known for his groundbreaking role as Ennis in "Brokeback Mountain."

We're told Heath had dinner last night with his model girlfriend Gemma Ward.

Hey everyone...Maybe he rolled up the bill while talking on the phone or something...nervous energy ya know...He had pnuemonia which is very hard on the heart...he snored (which can be a dangerous thing especially if you are medicated and your heart has slowed way down...the waking impulse doesn't happen because all the drugs have you out cold...That's why they call it sedated). He didn't sleep and he took perscriptions. Ambien is a quick acting sleeping aid. if you do not fall asleep in the first 30 minutes after taking it then it isn't going to work...Someone who is stressed out and who takes drugs as perscribed but doesn't sleep, puts alot of stress onto the heart. You run on emotions...Your body is so tired but your brain is wired open. These drugs do different things to different people. They are to be taken as prescribed...Some should be taken everyday...Sometimes peeps forget a day or they think they don't need them...It's chemistry and it's a crapshoot and it's dangerous.Sleep deprivation is a serious thing. Depression is a serious thing...Anxiety is a serious thing...Throw them all together with medication for each one and it's a fine line.Heath was a laid back person which is another thing. If you are a really calm person and you are taking drugs to further calm you down then that is another thing to think about. Valium and Xanax at the same time is a medical oxymoron...They both have half lives which means it takes a longtime to recover from them...It's dangerous..Throw in Lunesta (a sleeping pill) and Ambien (another sleeping pill)...He was sleep deprived...he couldn't wake up...Have you ever heard someone snore and then wake themselves from it? well, that is the body and the brain telling them that something is out of balance...This is why peeps go to rehab because it takes a long time for the body and mind to work together again...I'm just sharing what I know...I'm gonna save judgement and pray that his family has acceptance more than sadness and if they are sad that they have each other close by and remember the good things. That's all I have...

1177. I didn't see Brokeback Mountain but it wasn't until a couple of days ago that I realized Heath played "Skip" in The Lords of Dogtown".He fooled me. The best actors are those who can make you forget their real persona and forget that there are cameras just a few feet away in the screenshot. That was a great movie. He has a great body of work and it's a loss for all of us that we won't be able to see what other character he could have brought to life. I bought a used copy of the 10 Things I Hate About You soundtrack, just to get the two Letters From Cleo songs on that cd (remakes of a Rockpile and Cheap Trick songs) Anyway, Godspeed Skip !!

1181. I was really shocked to find out about Heath. I'm sorry for his loss. He was a great guy, performer, dad, brother, son and friend. He should always be remembered by all of his great qualities. I will miss him. My heart goes out to his family and most of all his daughter. I can only imagine what she's thinking when she calls for her daddy.
