Inside the Building Where Heath Died

The Soho building on Broome St. where Heath Ledger died currently features an apartment for rent -- for only $23,000 a month.
421 Broome Street
So what does nearly $25K get you for 30 days? The 4,400 sq. ft., 3-bedroom, 2.5 bath loft features 15' ceilings, a fireplace, private balcony, central air, wood floors and a laundry room -- according to the real estate company, The Corcoran Group.

Neighbors tells us the building is supposed to be zoned specifically for artists -- meaning residents aren't allowed to move in unless they are approved by the city's Department of Cultural Affairs. But we're told that doesn't usually happen, and residents with deep pockets often get to move in instead.

34. I agree with some of the above users here... you really are teetering on the edge of bad taste. Especially with the whole Lindsay Lohan thing too and all the videos. I love your site, I really do, but give it a rest for respect to his family. All these updates and hearsay. Can't you just do a remembrance post and leave it at that? I know he is a celebrity and celebrities are in the limelight, but we aren't talking Britney Spears walking around with a British accent, we are talking about a HUMAN BEING who has sadly passed away at a young age. Please, stop with the Heath whirlwind and give his family some respect.

40. Hmmm. "Zoned for artists" sounds dubious to me. I don't think you're allowed to restrict who can live in your rental properties. But at that price the pool would be pretty small--movie stars and hedge fund managers. And the hedge fund manager could probably sue and win for the right to live there. Fact checking anyone?

41. It is truly a tragic passing ! But my question is how many artists can afford a 25,000/month rent? I do not know what the SOHO area commands but the artists cannot be your average oil and watercolor and metal sculpture guys and girls! From Texas, Greggo

42. Have some repect or his family, you post his death which is so tragic and the next space is an add for a renta in his building. That is beyond tacky

43. Well, great advertising for the real estate company -- it's already rented!
