Lohan Distraught Over Ledger's Death

TMZ has learned Lindsay Lohan was seen sobbing inside La Scala with friends DJ AM and Samantha Ronson -- as the group consoled each other after learning of Heath Ledger's death.

Our cameras tried to get comment from Lohan about her former party pal's passing as she left the restaurant, but she was silent, and hid her face from cameras as her driver drove off. We're told the two were "very close" for some time.

61. Nice, TMZ. You report that they were close and then you shove a camera in her face for a comment? Classy. Let people mourn and be respectful for once. You guys are something else.

63. for those of you commenting how shameless it is for lindsay to mourn in a public place - no one has any idea how things played out? perhaps she received the news while she was @ lunch? unless you know that actual events that took place, perhaps you shouldn't comment!i highly doubt that anyone with half a heart would mourn for the media.

Posted at 8:45PM on Jan 22nd 2008 by now for real, are you kidding me??

64. Come on guys, regarless of who it is, don't you think it is pathetic and sick to be chasing down celebrities who knew Heath Ledger, for some worthless comment? What can anyone say right now that is worthy of the circus that is now surrounding this tragedy?

A NEW LOW TMZ....A NEW LOW INDEED.

65. You going to shove your camera in Michelle Williams' face too? How about you follow his 2 year old daughter around? That might make for a good video. Ease up and have some respect.

66. Give Lindsay a break! I feel terrible and have never met Mr, Ledger! All I know is I've enjoyed the movies he made and I was shocked to see he "passes". I'm so sorry for alot of these "stars" being chased..but yet I check your website..but I wish sometimes you would show a bit of compassion. I broke down in tears over the loss of this young talented life..and feel so bad for his young daughter! A 51 year old "old lady".

67. It doesn't matter if she hit her head or is crying. What matters is that TMZ is up in Heath's friends faces asking for comment only hours after he died. I really don't like Lohan, but this is still a new low for TMZ.

68. We got bad food poisoning at La Scala. It was awful.

They don't care about food safety. The health dept. cited them.

69. Are those her Parliaments on the console next to her?

So much for her nicotine gum and her product placement of that gum after rehab, huh?

70. how do you even know that she was crying and how do you know if she even knew and how do we know, that if she was crying, she was crying about him??

75. I love tmz but this is tacky. You don't chase down people in mourning -its innappropriate and disrespectful to the memory of the deceased.
