Ringo Won't Star on "Regis"

Ringo StarrRingo Starr was supposed to appear on "Live with Regis and Kelly" this morning -- but moments before he was scheduled to go live, the ex Beatle walked off the set.

In what's being chalked-up to a miscommunication, Ringo was given only 3 minutes to perform a 4-minute, 15-second song, and chose to hightail it out of there after the show wouldn't give him more time. According to his rep, "Ringo left saying, `God bless and goodbye. We still love Regis."'

Starr's exit followed a day of snubbery in NYC Monday -- where the angry rocker got mad at paps, autograph seekers and fans who wanted to greet the 67-year-old rocker.

47. Many of you clowns are so used to dishing on moron celebrities that you are missing a living legend who DOESN'T take sh1t from anybody. Starr has been dealing with the press frenzy for +45 years! He does not owe them or you any explanations for how he expects to be treated in his remaining years on the planet. For God sake, his friend was killed by a crazed fan who got too close.

Starr was not just some hack who hooked up with the Beatles. I encourage all you young netizens to wiki him and learn about his career. Ringos contribution to the Beatles was much greater than most think. He sang many memorable songs. His drum work and innovation is well respected amongst knowledgeable drummers. His lead songs did quite well, despite only getting a track per record (if lucky). After the Beatles he had significant pop success. "It don't come easy", "back off boogaloo", "Photograph", "youre sixteen", "oh my my", "no no song".. When you add "when I am 64", "yellow submarine", "octopus's garden", "act naturally", "i wanna be your man", "dont pass me by" & "good night", his stamp on popular music is unquestionable.

The time slot was 2 1/2 minutes for a song that was over 4 minutes long. WHAT THE F? Isn't that miserable show an hour long? You can't find 2 extra minutes for the Beatle? WHAT THE F? Who bumped him? Elvis' corpse? The pope? The producer should be fired for a stupid decision, lame priorities and bringing disgrace opon the show. Gelman should be doing the morning show in Roanoke. ....talk about Peter Principle. A plus 4 minute song cut to two minutes is just not possible. At some point it is no longer the same song and no longer worth performing. Ringo made the right call. Later.

50. Sing? I don't think anyone wants to hear an old Ringo sing. He couldn't sing when he was young and back then no one wanted to hear him. He should have just talked for 3 minutes, that would have been fun.

51. Good for Ringo. They kept wanting to cut his song shorter to make room for Ripacrit to talk about herself some more. It wasn't Ringo who was the jerk. This isn't the first time Ripacrit has disrepected a guest.

52. I agree totally with those complaining about all the time they give to that emaciated, obnoxious Kelly Ripa to blab nonstop about herself, her unemployed husband, her brats, her stretchmarks, her bowel movements, etc...... but they can't find 4 lousy minutes to let A BEATLE perform?????? It would have been cool if Ringo had walked on & put his hand over Ripacrits nasty mouth! LOL!

53. I think ringo probably had enough of what was going on and walked off. It seems like a lot of negative publicity is present.. I am glad he took a stand. If a lot of people were constantly on my lawn I might say the same thing. May be he just wants his own uniqueness respected. I think Ringo is a good person and all of this seems to be slanted in favor of Regis . Regis stars sometimes though good remind me of used car salesman.
l I am on Ringo's side there. too,. If I had been slighted or shortchanged I might have done the same thing.

54. I am on ringo's side on this one. Ringo probably got the same treatment that Jim Morrison did on the Ed Sullivan show. I think He is a good man He has his moods like anyone else. Besides Regis comes across sometimes like a used Car salesman. I imagine a number of people want to react like used car salesman.
