Money in Ledger's Apartment Being Tested

UPDATE: Cops in New York say the rolled-up $20 bill did not appear to have any drug residue on it -- but they are in the process of testing it.

TMZ has confirmed with NYPD sources in the Heath Ledger investigation that cops found a $20 bill rolled up "in a certain way" with a powdered substance on it. Our sources say they don't know what the nature of the powder is, but it's being tested at the police lab.

CBS 2 in NYC is reporting cops found drug packets along with the $20 bill in Ledger's apartment.

Our sources say the manner in which the bill was rolled made them "suspicious."

32. health ledger was awesome in the movie brokblack mountaint. i didnt know he loves kangaroo pie. don't knock him cause he snorts cocaine with a 20 bill. that fact that its a 20 means that he is a still good hearted down to earth guy.
in contrast the druggies we love to hate roll up using the popular $1000 dollar bill and are filirthy rich.

33. Eithier way it sucks. I dont think he was in a happy place in his life. Fame can really disturb people. He was clearly disturbed by the role of the joker. I dont think I will be able to watch it. :( Prayers to his family.

34. Let him rest in peace you idiots.

35. Well...

all I can say is that if I had the money that HE had, I would be snorting coke too, guaranteed.....but I would be using a 100 dollar bill instead of 20's.

Come on folks, I am(was) a huge fan to Heath Ledger, I think he was a very good actor. At this point in time, it doesn't matter if he died from a "accidental" overdose on prescription meds OR coke, etc. He's dead and nothing (even what KILLED him), will NOT change the fact that we lost a great actor, parents lost one of their children, and a little girl has lost her father before she really will know him.

It's sad, and it doesn't matter how he died, he did.

36. okay, TMZ. about 50% of what you reported yesterday was wrong, so I don't believe this one for a minute. Is hollywood really that boring today that you guys have to seek out little things like this? I highly doubt that Heath was doing drugs. He had a SLEEPING PROBLEM from working too much and was on Ambien..why would someone wanna snort anything (like coke)? lol Get the f*** outta here. If he did snort anything, it was probably the ambien to help him fall asleep faster, but certaintly not anything "suspecious".

39. Good grief! Now what, TMZ? Next thing you'll report is that it really wasn't so. And I do hope this latest thing (rolled up money bill) wasn't related to his death in any way. It's so sad.

BYT--please keep the Britney reports to a bare minimum!! It's really rediculous to see how she keeps popping up for her stupid deposition hearing and then leaves all of a sudden. Right now, noboby cares about this lazy, stupid, poor-excuse of a mom/woman/human being!!!

Baby Matilda just lost her father, for crying out loud!!!!

40. Sad to hear about Heath. I loved him in The Patriot movie. A young father, son, brother, friend, talented actor lost but will never be forgotten. He accomplished alot in his short life.

41. TMZ, we know what you are implying without you actually saying it.

TMZ, at least you handled the articles on this death far better than the deaths over the weekend.

42. why does TMZ write this stories without waiting for true information from the medical examiner???? It doesn't matter what some stupid insider thinks happened.... The medical examiner is the final word on - cause of death.......

I don't think the guy was a druggie or commited suicide.......

It may turn out to be a death by natural causes or an accidental death or some other unknown thing.........

people are like crazed stalkers......... calling the man a druggie - heath doesn't give off those vibes...

people take zoloft for anxiety as well, not only for depression... I take zoloft for anxiety as well........

43. I know you guys are desperate for stories, but don't YOU even get sick of your wild speculations based on minimal information?

First you report that there were pills "strewn" everywhere, now it turns out that there were perhaps 3 bottles of pills in the apartment. Now there are $20 bills rolled up in "a certain way".

PLEASE! We all know what you are insinuating! Either come out and say it or let it go.

Can't you have at least a little respect for Heath and his family? You're worse than ambulance chasers.

My heart goes out to Heath's family and loved ones; they deserve better than to have their loved one dragged through the mud for entertainment.

45. Wouldn't the toxiology reports come back with drugs in his system instead of inconclusive if he had done coke?
