Money in Ledger's Apartment Being Tested

UPDATE: Cops in New York say the rolled-up $20 bill did not appear to have any drug residue on it -- but they are in the process of testing it.

TMZ has confirmed with NYPD sources in the Heath Ledger investigation that cops found a $20 bill rolled up "in a certain way" with a powdered substance on it. Our sources say they don't know what the nature of the powder is, but it's being tested at the police lab.

CBS 2 in NYC is reporting cops found drug packets along with the $20 bill in Ledger's apartment.

Our sources say the manner in which the bill was rolled made them "suspicious."

47. Apparently he did do cocaine....don't they all?

That is besides the point....I am sad, speechless and at a loss for words...My heart goes out to Michelle, his daughter family and friends.

I think it was a combination that did not agree with his body....also if true the fact that he was ill with pneumonia was a definite factor.

God Bless.

48. Well, I wondered how long it would take TMZ to start twisting this around into a sordid tabloid story...keep it up, and the Ledger family will stop contacting you.

He was a brilliant actor, and my heart is just aching today. Give him some peace. It was an accident, plain and simple.

Shame on you, TMZ.

50. Man, let the cops do their investigation. People should wait until they hear all the facts before they start judging this guy. All the media wants is another story like Anna Nicole to report on, since it sold so much last year. Whether or not it's an overdose, a suicide or whatever, he's still dead...let him RIP

51. #43, Tracey....

Actually, BECAUSE the autopsy was "Inclusive" actually points more towards some type of drugs or something that will be determined with toxiology reports.

If he would have died froma natural cause, say a brain tumor or something like that, blood cloth etc., that would have shown up on the initial autopsy. An inconclusive ruling actually points to the fact that the coroner did not find any form of NATURAL causes and toxiology results usually take 10-14 days to come back, that is the part that takes a bit longer.

Even if he had an enlarged heart, or lung issues....they will still wait on the toxiology results to find out if those things were actually caused by any type of drugs in the system.

It would have been easy if he had a tumor or a blood clot in his body....toxiology reports are much more complicated.

53. NYPD sources--whut some dude standing on the street corner who claims to be a NYPD source?? Like the other sources you've been using have been correct? Please this is so disrespectful to the guy, let the truth come out from real sources and leave Heath alone until then. Then you can have at him if he was in truth abusing drugs, because I am anti-drug and young'uns need to realize what drug abuse can lead to.

54. It has not been confirmed to be drugs........only the medical examiner working on his case can rule on that........no one working at TMZ is a medical examiner... I think.......

His family should sue all these people writing false stories about him.........

Posted at 1:16PM on Jan 23rd 2008 by his poor daughter..........

56. Sad to hear about Heath. I loved him in The Patriot movie. A young father, son, brother, friend, talented actor lost but will never be forgotten. He accomplished alot in his short life.

58. Lets wait for the tox results first before we stomp him or make any accusations like drug use. My sources said there were 3 seperate drinking glasses in the sink , when one with what appeard to be wine, and 2 others with what appeared to be rum. Sounds to me like he wasnt alone!
