Money in Ledger's Apartment Being Tested

UPDATE: Cops in New York say the rolled-up $20 bill did not appear to have any drug residue on it -- but they are in the process of testing it.

TMZ has confirmed with NYPD sources in the Heath Ledger investigation that cops found a $20 bill rolled up "in a certain way" with a powdered substance on it. Our sources say they don't know what the nature of the powder is, but it's being tested at the police lab.

CBS 2 in NYC is reporting cops found drug packets along with the $20 bill in Ledger's apartment.

Our sources say the manner in which the bill was rolled made them "suspicious."

91. Blah doesn't know everything! He/She probably failed. This is from Anna Nicole's autopsy...

The autopsy found no pills in her stomach, but officials were awaiting the results of toxicological tests that would indicate whether she had taken drugs, Perper said.

93. I think that we need to step back and not be judgemental. Yes, these people have lots of money but they are allowed to have no life off screen because we (the public) can keep cameras out of their face. They have no where to turn when things go wrong and no one they can really trust. Most of these so called friends and assistants, etc. would sell their mother for a dime. How doe you know if someone is really a friend or only after your money and a name for themselves. When you have no where to go you make mistakes. Even if this is true, it doesn't change the fact that he was very talented and adorable. I'm sure there are days that any of Hollywood would trade it all for a simple day at the park or a quite vacation. At least if he did do anything like drugs he had the decency to do them in his own home and not go out and make a complete idiot of himself like the Lindsay, Brittany and Paris do. RIP Heath, you are still loved and will be greatly missed, faults and all.

94. Well. I wouldn't be surprised. This is what happens. Look at all of the other actors who have OD'ed by accident. You can't mix your drugs people. It's just not good on your heart. If your going to do coke - you can't also start popping pills for depression and sleep medicines - the heart doesn't know what to do - speed up or slow down - it's just starts attacking.

95. Why is it always a $20 bill? Why not a $1 or a $5? Just sayin.

96. Cause of death: Pneumonia aggravated by both illegal and therapeutic narcotics!

Posted at 1:42PM on Jan 23rd 2008 by jbird

97. 79. The Autopsy was inconclusive. If there was Cocaine or other inhaleable narcotics within his system the initial toxicology screen would have come up positive. The report being non-conclusive means it has to go to a lab that can do a complete toxicology analysis of his blood and bodily fluids. This means that everything from antibiotics to what he ate for lunch to what he may have had in his fat cells for extended periods will be determined.

Drug overdosing would be immediately detected without the need for sending off to a lab.

Cocaine and other Schedule 1 narcotics stays in the blood stream. With his body being found on his bed the likelyhood his body had processed the toxins within such a short time frame is ZERO.

Do the world a favor and get an applied sciences education. Spend more time educating yourself and less time gossiping.

I am happy you posted that........The TMZ staff are idiots obviously........

You can watch a few episodes of doctor G and know that narcotic overdose... is not what is going to be ruled in the end..
There is some other cause of this talented actors death...
I can't believe people are saying callous things about heath ledger.. while his body is being cut up by the butcher - medical examiner..

everyone is going to die one day people, you better hope noone calls you callous names when you die...

Posted at 1:43PM on Jan 23rd 2008 by his poor daughter..........

98. I just feel bad for his family...especially his daughter, having to grow up not knowing her father. And for Michelle Williams too.

99. Hey, #6, just another dead drug addict, and good riddance, huh? You don't have a clue if he was a drug addict or not, and if he was, you DEFINATELY don't have a clue about addiction!!! Addiction is a disease, and if left untreated, then you die! People like you should watch what you print, because Heath did have a two year old daughter and an ex-fiance' that loved him very much. She just couldn't handle him dabbling in drugs.
I feel sorry for you!

100. Never mind the drug packets look at this rolled up $20!!!!!!

101. I think it's clear to see by the downward spiral of his looks that he was addicted to drugs. I mean don't get me wrong I liked the guy and saw many of his movies, but it was pretty plain to see. I also understand that you who loved him want to stick up for him and say he wasn't and that's fine too.

What is sad is that nobody helped the guy in time of need, maybe because he was so reclusive?

Sad thing though, rest in peace Heath.

102. I'm sorry, but none of us have a right to rush to judgement. By rushing to judgememnt you idiots are making a tragic story even worse. He was a fine actor and had so much life ahead of him as well as a daughter that will never know her father's love...that is the most tragic aspect of it all, yet you are accusing him of being a drug addict without even knowing for sure...talk about disrespecting the deceased! Heath Ledger, you will be missed and the film industry is a bit darker without you.

103. Props to you Blah. I agree wholeheartedly.

What is with the complete ignorance of the commenters here?
'omg i can't feel sorry for a druggie, drug, omg when i heard a healthy 28yro was dead i was like DRUGS, rofl rofl lolomgcakes.'

Addiction is a serious condition, sometimes it's can be genetic and addictive behaviour can manifest in many ways and destroy lives just the same as drugs. I'm sure if someone got into debt for a shopping addiction, maybe ended up in abject poverty and consequently died, i'm sure people wouldn't be like, OMG SHOPPO i totally hope ur in hellZ.
Well i might be wrong, some of you heartless lurkers probably would.

Like many people said, he's gone. We're not sure why yet. But is it that important? Seriously?
Either you admired the man or you couldn't care less. If the latter move on and read about Britney. If you're having a bitch because people in iraq are dying without similar news coverage, go find a support forum for the army or something and pay the respect you feel they are entitled to.

Or you could like, omg tots get a lyfe!

104. That is so heart breaking!!! I loved Heath Ledger!! It is still so shocking. I loved his movies!

Posted at 2:15PM on Jan 23rd 2008 by Valley Girl

105. A guy his age usually doesn't just keel over and die. There is some underlying reason for it and given all the pills that were found, it will probably be ruled an accidental overdose due to dangerous drug interactions (much like ANS son Daniel).

Prescription or not, just say no to drugs!! We are an over prescribed, over medicated society as it is!!
