Blue Men Stuck a Camera Down My Throat!

An audience member at the Blue Man Group show is suing, claiming they stuck a dirty camera down his throat during their show. What?
Read the docs
TMZ has obtained a lawsuit in which James Srodon claims while he attended a 2006 show, he was "forcibly restrained" in his seat while the blue men shoved an "esophagus cam" into his mouth. According to the suit, the esophagus cam is routinely dragged on the floor during the show, which could contaminate it with food and liquid. James claims he now suffers from nightmares.

Srodon is seeking over $50,000 in damages.

UPDATE: Blue Man Productions issued the following statement: "We are shocked and surprised to learn of the allegations made in reference to one of our comedic pieces, "Esophagus Video." At the time of this statement, we have not been served any legal papers.

"Our well-known audience participatory pieces, such as "Esophagus Video," have been performed for over 15 years, in over 50,000 performances, to the delight of over 12 million audience members around the world. We are disappointed that this false claim forces us to reveal the truth behind one of our most popular theatrical devices.

"'Esophagus Video' is simply an illusion. A camera is held in an actor's hands, the actor's hands are placed near an audience member's mouth (not on or in). The live-feed video screen then switches to a pre-recorded medical video, resulting in the hilarious and absurd illusion that the audience is peering down an individual's esophagus. Because the camera never enters the mouth, the execution of this illusion could not possibly put anyone at risk of injury."

32. Wow - Who would waste there time and money to see that show more than once. I've had more fun at the dentist office than watching them. Worst show in Vegas
The guy is trying to make a quick buck, hell just looking at there fugly pictures is enough to give me nightmares. Where's my $50,000?

33. Oh COME ON! This Law suit is ridiculous. Obviously the guy is looking to make money. The throat video is pretapped! You think someone would have come out years ago and complained about having a camera shoved down their throat. Why now?

Besides, when you sit up front you're told beofre you buy the tickets that you can get wet with paint.

" 3. Good, he should sue. These stupid guys smeared my clothes with blue paint when I saw their show. Had a nice dry cleaning bill, ultimately had to discard the clothes which were silk."

Obviously, it went in one ear and out the next otherwise you would have known not to buy tickets in the front.

35. I thought TMZ is supposed to remove inappropriate and publicity comments. Seems like they're good at digging up the dirt on everyone else, but not very good at getting off their own website.

36. @Michael Latin

The Diana INQUEST (not a trial), is at least the 3rd one they've had since her death. Also, FILING a law suit takes about two minutes no matter how clogged they are with trials.

37. Yeah, but the guy didn't complain when they used the colonoscopy cam.

38. First of all, they would never do something that you didn't agree with, because of lawsuits like this. Second, if they did why the hell are you asking for only $ 50,000? Stupid and a waste of time.

39. I'm sorry. Taking 2 years to decide that your nightmares are a direct result of having a camera shoved down your thoat says "Con" to me. He should have filed charges immediately, however it is my guess that he probably had a good time and is cash poor right now. BMG will settle (God I hope not), and plaintiff can pay his mortgage.

No sympathy....Statute of limitations is probably coming up.

41. Do you guys think he's really sue if they DIDN'T put a camera down his throat?
You guys always try to be soo clever, thinking you REALLY know what's happening in other peoples lives, just 'cause you read a paragraph or two about them, grow up, you know nothing.
There is a taped segment, that the audience does see, but that doesn't mean they still didn't stick a camera down his throat. IT"S TAPED BECAUSE THEY NEED THE TIMING RIGHT, YOU SLOW, SLOW, STUPID PEOPLE?

Also, to the person who said they throw the case out because of the statue of limitations? DO YOU PEOPLE REALIZE THE STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS IS A REAL THING, WITH REAL TIME LINES!!!!! IT'S NOT SOMETHING THE JUDGE CAN JUST SAY, SCREW IT, IT'S BEEN TOO LONG.

again, stupid, stupid people....

43. 19. Yeah, I know how he feels. I had a colon cam shoved up my ass one time, and I'm still having nightmares about that. I dream that I'm in the movie "Deliverance."

45. From: http://tallahassee.com/special/blogs/mhinson/2007/02/true-blue-i-wanna-be-blue-man.html

One of the best bits in "MegaStar" occurred when The Blue Man discovered a mini-movie camera hidden in a tube and took into the front row to try out the new toy. One Blue Man inspected the mouth of an unsuspecting audience member like a dentist would. He stuck the camera in the guy's mouth as a giant screen simultaneously projected the dude's teeth and tongue on a huge screen over the stage.

Now here's the smart part, the live footage feed from the man's mouth was quickly replaced with footage from an actual medical procedure featuring a tiny camera going down someone's goozle pipe and into the innards. You know, like a colonoscopy, only it's done from the other end.

"Some people don't get that it's a trick," Blue Man Zack Buell said when I talked to him after show. "They think we really stick a small camera all the way down somebody's esophagus."

It sounds disgusting but it was a scream to watch live.
