Sorry, Oprah, I Want to Talk About Heath

Oscar winner Daniel Day Lewis was on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" today, ostensibly to talk about his current Oscar nomination -- but instead made an emotional statement on the death of Heath Ledger.

Breaking away from Oprah's prepared questions, Lewis choked-up as he spoke of the late actor -- even though he "didn't know him."

331. I know I am way late in this discussion. However, Daniel Day Lewis just got a new fan. How classy.

For those of you with terrible comments: Whenever you lose a loved one, don't look around for sympathy or compassion, because you only get what you give and all you give is distasteful and crude (not to mention highly immature) remarks.

333. I don't know if it was staged either. But as someone had pointed out earlier, DDL may have had a feeling of hey, that could have been me, when he was 28 years old. His reflection of what might have or could have been, may weigh heavy on his mind and brought forth his compassion.

334. Zoom and Naughty -- and the point is, what? Oh, another correction: it's separate, not seperate.

So, Zoom, I assume you're English 101 and Naughty is your humble assistant?

335. C'mon people... Daniel-Day Lewis is apart of the acting community. Regardless if he knew the actor or not, its a tight-knit circle that 1% of actors actually become apart of. He realizes that it's another young talent that was lost too soon. It's a sad, tradgic ending to a young life. I mean regardless if the guy was an actor or not, a young man who lost his life who left a two year old daughter behind is a sad story. So he got choked up, shows he's a real person and not a phony hollywood deusch.

340. Whoa! Hold the horses and stop the presses! "Whoa" is wrong. Many times I've seen people make tha same erroneeous statement regarding quotation marks, - they were wrong, too. Just do a search on using punction marks with quotation marks and read it for yourself. I would have posted a site myself but there are just too many. So, have at it and learn.

While "punctuationally" is not a word, per se, it is NOT bad grammer. Do a search on "punctuationally" and see it all for yourself, as well.

Lastly, you forgot to us an apostrophe when you wrote, "sweetie and dear," (as I just did) but who's keeping track? Oh, yeah, you are.

But, seriously, other than the bit about always enclosing punction marks within the quotation marks (which isn't true), the rest is usually an issue of haste and not editing before posting (which most people usually don't consistantly do). So, practice what you preach, dearie.

342. msfanni----It must be wonderful for you to be all-knowing. Did you PERSONALLY know Ledger? I don't know what the Hollywood life is really like, but I assume it to be filled with people similar to those in 'real life'. In other words, they have their up, downs and in-betweens just like all the rest of us. Some of them deal better with fame and fortune than others. Regardless, the fact still remains that a young life was lost. It does not really matter if he may have helped cause it or not.

343. Hi Naughty, I'm quite relaxed. All I asked was what's the point that I missed? You and Zoom seemed to get such a kick out of it. My original post was to English 101, who now I assume is Zoom. So, do you have an answer? I didn't think so. Oh yeah and you might want to re-think the "but nice" in your moniker.
