Sorry, Oprah, I Want to Talk About Heath

Oscar winner Daniel Day Lewis was on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" today, ostensibly to talk about his current Oscar nomination -- but instead made an emotional statement on the death of Heath Ledger.

Breaking away from Oprah's prepared questions, Lewis choked-up as he spoke of the late actor -- even though he "didn't know him."

376. Oh yeah, definitely. I believe we'll see this again, as in next week or so. Unless there's a "magic bullet" -- anything's possible, just not probable.

377. Does anyone else think it was ridiculously callous of Oprah to not even ADDRESS the fact that Heath had just died before going on with a show about HOLLYWOOD???? I mean, I remember when Heath was on her show promoting Brokeback not too long ago. She sat there and praised his performance, talked about his baby, even hugged the man! To not even open her show yesterday with a brief acknowledgement of his passing seems really cold, but then to make matters worse she glossed over it when her first guest (who was visibly shaken) brought it up and continued on with her interviews in an almost giddy fashion! You could tell even Casey Affleck was really somber but she just ignored it and asked stupid questions about eating tree bark or something ridiculous. For shame Oprah!
And by the way, police are saying there were NOT illegal drugs in his apartment. Let's have the respect to give him the benefit of the doubt based on the evidence people!

378. lead us into war with blacks????? man, this country is a LONG way from accepting a black president. I hope he gets elected just to move some of you people into the latest century of tolerance. I agree that many blacks are WAY more racist than theyd like to admit (do I need to talk about how many whites are?). I used to work in hip hop and couldnt believe the level of racism among so much of those people and their culture. But Oprahs main problem is she spreads unscientific misinformation to millions and millions of gullible and ignorant viewers. Just look at the success of "The Secret". She also has done a huge disservice in childrens health by creating a scare about the risks of vaccinations on children (something that was a worry decades and decades ago when the vaccines contained mercury adn other things that was regulated a LONG time ago. She is a dangerous moron that does what she does for ratings, not for the "good of the people".

And any of you that dont believe that little DDL thing was staged to some degree, well again, youre all just living in a little fanatasy world. Those things are NOT spontaneous like that. For instance, Jay Leno goes over all the jokes and subject matter discussed with the "guest stars". It is SCRIPTED. David Letterman too. Its MADE to seem spontaneous but its not. I think Craig Fergerson is one of the only ones that not very scripted. I know this cause Ive TALKED to guest stars on the shows. It is ALL SCRIPTED and they have to go there early to go over it.
The DDL thing MAY have been his idea and not Oprahs, but Im telling you, it was all worked out ahead of time and not so "spontaneous" as you think.
You people just believe everything thats presented to you and everything that supports your happy little ignorant bubble you want to live in. But to me, life is a lot happier being free and seeking truth even if some reality is not what we hope it is.

Think for yourself. Question authority. Stop being sheep!!!!

On that note, I direct you to brilliantly written song lyrics by Trent Reznor.

379. I was touched by the comments of Daniel Day Lewis. I believe he and Heath were kindred spirits. They both stayed out of the Hollywood limelight and are/were totally into their craft. He made Oprah look like and ostentatious uncaring blob. She reacted so strangely, she was completely unmoved.

380. Oprah's reaction was cold and inhumane to the point of perversity.

381. Staged? lol You got to remember it such a fresh tragic moment that just happen when Daniel Day-Lewis went to talk to Oprah. Of course it was in his mind before he was going to on T.V, thus he surely had felt the need to express his condolences in the public. Why hold it against him? Its the right platfrom to express that kinda of grief. It was self evident it was bothing him and he felt compelled to express his geniune feelings on that matter. What is wrong with that? To me it was completely sincere considering who the person is.

And if you followed Daniel Day-Lewis in his career he shuns the spotlight and adulation. He is the least likely person to try to gain selfish benefit off someones death. He rarely does interviews and when he does, he comes off very uncomfortable about talking about himself. Come on you got to use brain, the guy took a sabbatical for 3 years to become a cobbler, does that sound like someone who would relish in being in the spotlight?! Extremely selfless person. Humility should be his middle name.

Cause you KNOW him right? And whos holding what against whom. Im just saying you people buy all you see as the ultimate truth. YOU are the clear example of what Im even talking about. Im not saying anything against DDL. Im just saying it was not as spontaneous as it was made out to be. Those things never are. I have worked on reality shows and other things and seen first hand how reality is manipulated to complete fabrications and then presented as reality.

Youre so close minded that you dont even accept the SUGGESTION that you may be wrong about what you know nothing about but just see on TV. How much you claim to know about DDL says it all, just cause of what youve seen happen in front of a camera. Youve seen probably about 10 mintues of his real life TOTAL if you sum up all the times youve seen him interviewed and the rest is in movies. How much would I know about you if your life and your personality if you were in front of a camera for 10 minutes. Feeling that you have a "first impression" of him is fine, but to say what you say about him with such confidence is just ignorant and gullible on your part. He may be the greatest guy in the world, or the worst. Ive met enough celebs and stars to know that its just as hit and miss as meeting anyone else and more than that, what you see in front of a camera is NOT represented of what you see in real life when the camera isnt there.

WAKE UP PEOPLE and START USING YOUR BRAINS and STOP LETTING OTHERS THINK FOR YOU. (NAMELY THE CORPORATE CONTROLLED MEDIA AND PRESS).

384. DDL looks gacked out his mind to me. The way he moves his mouth, talks likes hes grinding leaves in his mouth, the dry mouth and the twitchyness.

385. and people love him cause of who he is on screen. Means nothing. I was in love with an actress in my teen years and swore that she must be SOMEWHAT of a decent person cause of who she was in interviews and on screen, the type of characters she played, etc.
I could now tell you stories about this girl that would absolutely make you think I must be talking about someone else.

The irony here is youll respond to this by saying "this guy (me - reason) is probably lying", yet you think you know what DDL is like as a person and Heath as well.........

and yes, I was not at Heaths house and realize that it MAY not be an actual OD due to using drugs beyond their intended use by a doctor, HOWEVER, it has seemed in all my experience, that 9 times out of 10, this is the probable reality of a situation like this with all its details (rich actor, young, history of drug use, partying reputation and friends (and in this case, lovers), many drugs found on his posession (legal or illegal, makes no difference),

how often do you hear about people just dropping dead cause they have a flu and are taking some prescribed medication properly??

386. alright msfanni ... first of all who are you to say Heath was a junkie?
you shouldn't make assumptions about someone you didn't even know personally.
your comment just proves that you envy all of those who are better off than you. its pretty pathetic.
i mean honestly even these tabloids need to stop making his death more than it really was. there is no need at all for that.
just let it be. sure, it is an awful thing to have happened, and its even worse that people are spinning this just to sell magazines or get higher ratings. my thoughts go out to his daughter, his family, and everyone else whose lives he touched.

388. Funerals, memorials, services and condolences are offered after a persons passing, not for the person but for the ones still living who are in grief. Human compassion is the norm, as it helps heal the ones that it affects the most.
Some people feel the need for sarcasm, and lable it as truth. There own version of the truth riddled with cruelty and malice.
In actuality it is nothing but a pathetic attempt to make themselves feel superior.
Give it a rest already.
Even if someone is a Junkie, they have family who deserve to be allowed there grief.
Have a little diginity.

390. I never knew who Heath Ledger was until he died. I did see Brokeback Mountain but didn't even know his name. I think they are making way too much of a fuss over this.
