Sorry, Oprah, I Want to Talk About Heath

Oscar winner Daniel Day Lewis was on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" today, ostensibly to talk about his current Oscar nomination -- but instead made an emotional statement on the death of Heath Ledger.

Breaking away from Oprah's prepared questions, Lewis choked-up as he spoke of the late actor -- even though he "didn't know him."

406. If anyone watched the show, Oprah was asking Dan Day-Lewis about how he could handle playing such an intense character and go home at the end of the day. Heath Ledger had just completed a film with a very dark character and DDLwas well aware of that and probably understood exactly what feelings Ledger was having and how as such a young man, he just could not handle it.

408. Yes, Nicole, I found that odd. I'd recorded it and just watched it tonight. I would have thought that would have been the first thing out of her mouth......a tribute or something. And, yes, Casey did seem distracted, even upset, but she slid right over that. It was all quite boring and I erased it before it was over. Maybe Oprah's getting tired or could it be that all her money and fame are making her numb to the whole thing?

409. THE MOMENT OF TRUTH: I'M WAITING FOR THE CELEBRITY EDITION. N THE CARNIVAL THAT IS REALITY TV, THIS ONE ACTUALLY INTRIQUES. I'm already wringing my hands over the possibility of the first "Celebrity Editon." Can you imagine? The public could finally find out all sorts of truths about their heroes. The first one I'd put on the stand is the First Lady of TV, Oprah, and I'd tell her to bring that diary she always mentions that always presages her next, great "dream come true," the most recent being a May 1992 entry about owning her own network. Can we see that, 'O' great one? Check out www.CrabbyGolightly.com. Taking a dim view of celebrity, media and power.

411. continued....

HOW MANY MORE STARS DO WE HAVE TO LOOSE TO DRUGS? Before we quit calling it tragic and start calling it as it is. Is it really acceptable to you Amanda and Jade. Is it acceptable to you that young Hollywood is killing them selves. Axel Rose a great songwriter and musican would rather shoot heroin then share his music with the world. Look at Brit she on the verge of being next.

YOUNG HOLLYWOOD IS DIEING. Some of them are not even dead they are just locked up in their minds locked in the addiction never to really do anything again, except wait to die.
