Christian Brando Dies

Christian Brando Marlon Brando's oldest son, Christian Brando, died early this morning at Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center in Los Angeles, David Seeley, a lawyer for Marlon Brando's estate confirmed to the AP. He was 49.

Brando had been in the ICU since January 11 for pneumonia.

Seeley said the family had no funeral plans yet, adding, "This is a sad and difficult time for the family."

Christian had a minor roles in a few movies, but his real life was far more compelling; he went to prison for voluntary manslaughter in the death of his half-sister's boyfriend, Dag Drollet. He also was accused by Robert Blake's defense attorneys of having a role in Bonnie Lee Bakley's murder. Bonnie had originally named Brando as the father of her child with Blake.

Sources tell us that Brando had most recently been working in construction under a pseudonym.

Seeley said Brando was unmarried at the time of his death and had no children.

136. I am so thankful for the loving things that people are posting about Christian. Those who knew him speak so well of him, he was loved by so many but not by the people who should have been loving him most of all - his own family. I have had a very unique experience regarding Christian and I believe with all my heart that it was a gift from God and I will cherish it always. I also believe that right now he is well and happy and healed of his addictions, and he is no longer weighed down by the things of this world. He is free of all the chains that had him bound and tied down. Let all his crazy relatives and hangers-on and attorneys and ex-wives fight over the money and his body and the "control" that they wanted to have over him all of his life - these battles are nothing new to him, he's been experiencing this since he was a baby. But no one can have "control" over his spirit and I believe it soars free and as pure and clean as the day he was born. Christian, everything is OK now. You are OK now, too. Rest easy.
