A fatal car accident killed five young men on an airstrip located adjacent to the Florida home of John Travolta, TMZ has learned.

The five men were speeding down a runway when their car ran off an embankment and was airborne for 200 feet before smashing into a tree early this morning, the AP reports. All five men were pronounced dead at the scene.

The airstrip is located at the exclusive "fly-in" community of Jumbolair Aviation Estates, where John Travolta has a home. The map above, obtained by Ocala.com from the Marion County Property Appraiser's Office, shows how close Travolta's home is to crash scene.

17. First, my condolences to the families of these 5 men. That being said, Travolta must not have been home because if he was he would have been able to save their lives like a good scientologist.

20. Sounds like they were drag racing. Very unfortunate, but I hope innocent people not involved in the racing were not among the fatalities. I would love to see the laws stricken for racing, b/c this is senseless. I suggest an automatic 10-20-life! 10 years if you're busted racing, 20- if you're involved in an accident, and LIFE if you kill someone. Maybe that will send a message to the ignorant that doesn't realize a car can be a deadly weapon. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2181126/

22. it scares me to think that scientalogy had something to do with this, didn't that reporter die after he made trouble for Tom Cruz ?, why do you think Nicole Kid is so quiet ? I think she is scared for her life, I also think she was pushed out of her adopted kides lives, that cult is scary, I would never ever join, if you make trouble they will find a way to destroy you, Lord help us.

25. travolta didn't say a word ,it was cruise who said it and he opened up everyone else to ridicule, how is that helping,as far as the accident,i am sure these men did not set out to do a thelma and louise but what was a embankment doing at the end of a runway and what were they doing using it as a drag strip?just as stupid as drunk driving.

26. Maybe they were running from his house to go tell Perez Hilton that Travolta is gay, and he had his Scientologist Secret Police kill the poor guys.

ANTHONY, Fla. -- Five people were killed early Saturday when a BMW they were riding in flew off an elevated runway at an airstrip and was split into several pieces, according to police.
Florida Highway officers said a gray 2008 BMW was traveling on an airstrip after 3:30 a.m. Saturday near Jumbolair Aviation Estates when it sailed off the 80- to 85-foot elevated runway.

FHP Lt. Mike Burroughs told the Ocala Star-Banner that the vehicle traveled 200 feet and hit a large tree about 15 feet above the ground.

Three of the passengers were ejected from the vehicle upon impact.

Authorities told the Ocala Star-Banner that Jacob James Casey, 19, and James Devon Hime, 19 were killed in the crash. The other three victims, all men, were not identified.

Neighbors in the 1400 block of Northeast 95th Street said that they were awakened by a bang that shook their house.

FHP officials investigating the crash said there were skid marks at the end of the runway.
