Five People Killed Near Travolta's Home

A fatal car accident killed five young men on an airstrip located adjacent to the Florida home of John Travolta, TMZ has learned.

The five men were speeding down a runway when their car ran off an embankment and was airborne for 200 feet before smashing into a tree early this morning, the AP reports. All five men were pronounced dead at the scene.

The airstrip is located at the exclusive "fly-in" community of Jumbolair Aviation Estates, where John Travolta has a home. The map above, obtained by Ocala.com from the Marion County Property Appraiser's Office, shows how close Travolta's home is to crash scene.

47. I just read about this on CNN where they didn't mention John Travolta. They were all teenagers driving a 2008 BMW. My thoughts go out to their families.

48. Whay are people bashing John Travolta? He did not force these 5 idiots to race down a runway and crash. Sorry to the families..but they were probably drunk and thought they were being cute. Bash the person who sold them the booze..the car..the parents for not teaching them better...but why bash John Travolta?
John Travolta was adorable as Edna in Hairspray. He made me cry in delight...the way he moved and sang and danced was just precious. I love, love, love John Travolta as Edna. Now that is the real tragedy...he was ignored by the Oscar Nominating committee. John Travolta deserves an Oscar for his work as Edna in Hairspray!!

52. Not to worry #12, it's no doubt gated and guarded. This story was on CNN too, and they had the discretion to not mention the close proximity of Travolta's home. Five teenage boys in a fast car (new BMW) once again equals tragedy... my condolences to their families.

54. The thoughts and prayers should go out to their families , not a celebrity that had nothing to do with this. Just because the accident was close to his home has no bearing on this. Sometimes you can just be so ridiculous and misleading with your headlines.....

55. At least they caught some air. Hell, maybe this story is even true. After all, you can believe everything you read on the internet. Everything.

60. Skidmarks? The car has ABS brakes- doesn't leave skid marks. Furthermore, you don't fly 200 feet in the air AFTER losing momentum trying to stop- unless they were going over 300 mph.....

Try a little harder, FHP...... For once.....
