Memorial Service for Heath Held in L.A.

A brief memorial service was held for Heath Ledger last night around 8:00 PM on a rainy night in Los Angeles. It was attended by Heath's immediate family and a small group friends -- including former girlfriend Naomi Watts, according to several different reports. The service was held at Westwood Village Memorial Park.

The AP is reporting that Ledger's body is now en route to his native Australia. Ledger's rep had said that no public memorial had been planned for Los Angeles.

35. His poor taste in women amazes me. This guy is amazingly smart and talented, yet chooses to bed Lindsey Lohan and MaryKate Olsen, how can ANYONE respect a man that does that? You will NEVER see Johnny Depp even 10 feet near that Lohan ho bag. Why did he tarnish his reputation this way?

36. Would you want cameras at your loved one's funeral - I think you people are forgetting that this is a human being who has passed away - just because you paid your $9 dollars to see his films doesn't reserve a right for you to have a seat at his funeral! Maybe you should think about the things you say when the time comes when your father, mother, or brother or sister dies and you get that feeling of suffocation and then you will truly see how sensitive of a feeling it is!! Remember people no one lives forever!!

39. I know a public one would have been good for his fans but they had a private memorial service due to some of the crazy groups that wanted to spoil it and picket which that is so so wrong......I think these people should get a life, I think the family did the right thing for their son, bother, and the father of Matilda.....I don't think that his daughter should have to see that or go through something like that let her see all that loved him and who's life he touched.....As one of the comments said have your own Memorial service and the awards will be on tonight.......Let the family have peace and grieve the loss that they are going through..... my baby bother passed away at an young age and it still hurts now but I know we will all see each other again and he is in a better place and so is Heath...Heath will always be remembered for what he gave the world, his talent and so much more...God bless his family and watch over them at this time of need.......

40. Mary Kate did not kill him....BUT....she ripped him off by charging him 23k a month for a 4th floor dump....what a great friend she is. Oh well, it takes two. I think Mary Kate and Madonna must have the same hairdresser. It looks like a do it yourself job and not anything more than trailer park trash. Both of them always look like they need a good scrub down with pine sol and a good hosing off. A morning bitch slap might help them too.

41. TMZ you're getting slow...MSNBC (tv) has had this news for the last few hours with live interviews of people who saw who was there, etc.

Bless Michelle Williams and the Ledger family for their long travels within the past few days. Sweden to US to LA to Australia, the whole family must be emotionally and now physically drained. I pray for their strength. RIP Heath, you were a beautiful soul.

43. Watched "Brokeback Mountain" for the 1st time with my husband last night - truly, a talented actor. He made me feel so sad for his character. Doubly hard to watch knowing that the young man who portrayed Ennis is now gone. Heath, you did some fine work in that film. Thank you for your talent and for being brave enough to bring Ennis' character to the screen.

44. I have been trully amazed at how some people are so cruel, and have been extremely disrespectful to his memory.
If you wear a chicken suit does that make you a chicken....
Heath, was someones father, someones son, someones brother, nephew, grandchild.
It is trully sad and I know my opinion does not matter to those who are being so negative, but who are you to judge anyone!!!
Heath had a kind soul, talent and love of life and his family. He respected himself enough not to sell out and to use his talent for challenging roles.
He loved being a father!
I am glad he is going home to rest, Perth was home to him a place where he could be Heath and a place where he was respected for being a boy of Perth.
May you rest in peace my friend! And my prayers to his parents, sister, Matilda, Michelle and all who loved him and knew him.

45. Why are people obsessing over this as though the President had died? He was a talented actor and, by all accounts, a nice person. But geez, people right in your own communities die and leave behind young children everyday, and many of those families are grieving and struggling. When you see their obits, do you even give it a second's thought? Did you ever think of sending those nearby strangers your condolences and offering support rather than posting 395 dozen entries to celebrity Web pages about an actor you've only known via a multiplex screen?
