Memorial Service for Heath Held in L.A.

A brief memorial service was held for Heath Ledger last night around 8:00 PM on a rainy night in Los Angeles. It was attended by Heath's immediate family and a small group friends -- including former girlfriend Naomi Watts, according to several different reports. The service was held at Westwood Village Memorial Park.

The AP is reporting that Ledger's body is now en route to his native Australia. Ledger's rep had said that no public memorial had been planned for Los Angeles.

61. I am sorry for Heath and his family. What was he doing with Scary-Kate Trollsen though? A man would HAVE to be on drugs to want to do her. Imagine going from Naomi ad Michelle to her! EWWWWWWW!

64. Rest Heath, this all just seem so wrong and unfair. I know death will come to us all, But it seems that somethng is missing, some unknow variable. He was alive last week this time, and it seems that all of this happened so fast . It's done and over with. God has already blessed Heath, I'm sure of it. I just hope his family is strong during this time and my best wishes are with them.

71. To poster #1 that stated" mary-kate killed heath."

My response to your ignorance: Congratulations on being a naive fool and buying into what the papparazzi and gossip rags want. They want you to belive all this nonsense so they can continue to sensationalize and prey upon Heath's death by selling these crazy stories and photos. Never allow yourself to be spoon fed nonsense by the gossip columns for you will find you're eating crap.

Rest in Peace Heath. You will not be forgotten as the talented and down to earth man that you were despite the lies the papparazzi are making up about you.

73. What happened to the mention of antibiotics being used? i was hoping Heath was actually getting helped for the pneumonia. There should be a law made that upon entering someone's apartment as staff or friend or family that you make sure they are alive and breathing and make eye contact.
To think a lightbulb got more priority than a body, even with her thinking he was snoring, face down is a bad position, you would not leave a baby or elderly person face down, why leave a friend or anyone face down? it is a clue something is not right possibly and mainly that air is restricted and better to get in trouble for waking them up than letting them die...it's all overwhelmingly horrible and sad and causes us to see our own mortality and others we love and existence being so temporary and vulnerable at all moments.
I guess it causes me to reevaluate my own life and how temporary and precious existence is; as well as how fickle is mortality. My son is Heath's age and is an actor, too, and I took it personally from that point of view of how I'd feel to lose my dear son.
I keep grappling with how it felt to be Heath at the end, how his Michelle might feel, how long she will live without him. I remember how Jim Henson died unexpectedly of a virus or something that went untreated and he could have lived had he had antibiotics. So much keeps coming to mind on so many levels.
I send my heartfelt sorrow at the loss of Heath Ledger. God bless his loved ones who are left to remember him and miss his energy and joy in their lives. I pray for his daughter Matilda Rose and her Mom to be strong somehow, it is massively horrible to lose him. Thank God we ever met him in any way in this lifetime, precious gift he shared of himself. He will be missed and remembered.

74. I think there is interest because there is still no official cause of death. I doesn't help that there are many conflicting tales.

There is a report that when the EMS arrived they were after the security staff and not at the same time. Also reported is that the masseuse told the 911 operator that Heath's torso was warm which means that he had ony just died. This could mean that if they hadn't faffed about with phone calls, he may have survived.

I suppose we will never know. There will always be somebody who 'claims' to know 'the truth' which will always lead to speculation.

I think (hope) that there was no drug involvement but I do suspect that the delay in making the call may have contribruted to his death.
