Rebecca Gayheart Has "Car Issues" ... Again!

Car drama seems to follow Rebecca Gayheart wherever she goes.

Although "car issues" almost kept Rebecca and her "McSteamy" husband, Eric Dane, from getting to the SAG Awards last night, luckily -- it was just the battery that died.

4. She made a horrible mistake that will probably haunt her for the rest of her life. Why do you have to turn it into a joke?

There's enough to make fun of in Hollywood without resorting to cruelty. You don't need to stoop so low, TMZ.

11. Why does TMZ try so hard to be funny? Most of the time they're not even funny...they're just ridiculous. Pathetic.

13. You said it Jenna. This poor woman tried to go around traffic because she didn't know it was stopped to allow an unsupervised child to cross a busy street. Can you imagine the horror of having to live with knowing you had struck a child with your vehicle? She wasn't under the influence of any substance or even talking on a cellphone. She simply made a fatal error and it could have happened to any one of us. The child's family obviously suffered a tremendous loss but this was a hideous accident. Rebecca Gayheart was in therapy for two years before she finally felt able to go back to work. That doesn't mean she got over it or ever will.
TMZ have you no shame? no lines that you won't cross? You can joke about the tragic death of a little boy and the horrific pain suffered by the woman behind the wheel? What about that little boy's family? and why am I even bothering to waste my time? You people aren't even human to joke about this. Do you honestly believe that just because someone is an actor that they have no feelings?

-------------------------------------------------------------

I had not heard of the vehicular manslaughter charge before, found this on wiki for anyone else like me...sad very sad.

Vehicular manslaughter
On June 13, 2001, Gayheart struck and fatally injured nine-year-old Jorge Cruz Jr. as he crossed a Los Angeles-area street. According to the police report, the child was walking home from school and crossed the street. While several cars stopped to let him go, Gayheart swerved around them and into a two-way left-turn lane, striking the boy. Her attorney, Steven Lerman, subsequently admitted Gayheart had been using a cell phone during impact.[8]

Cruz died the next day at Los Angeles Children's Hospital. His parents, Jorge Cruz and Silvia Martinez, filed a wrongful-death lawsuit on August 6, 2001, against her, seeking coverage of medical and funeral expenses, and compensation for loss of future earnings. The lawsuit was settled out of court, and settlement terms were not disclosed.[8] On November 27, 2001, she pleaded no contest to vehicular manslaughter. She was sentenced to three years probation, a one-year suspension of her license, a $2,800 fine, and 750 hours of community service. She was also ordered to make a public-service announcement. Gayheart was represented in the criminal proceeding by Harland Braun.

Later that year, she flipped a rental car into two parked cars with her father commenting that, "I've told my wife not to let her drive any more".[9]

15. Wow. Just when you thought TMZ couldn't make a more tasteless comment, they surprise you. That last line was completely out of line and the jackass who typed it should be reprimanded (yeah right). It's clear that noone in your offices has experienced the unimaginable loss of a dear child and that you have no empathy whatsoever.
