K-Fed's Lawyer Wants Five for Fighting

K-Fed's lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, has filed a motion asking the court to make Britney pay attorney's fees. If the motion is granted, we've learned Brit will be on the hook for more than $500,000 since last July.

Here's how it breaks down: The court has already awarded Kaplan $120,000 for fees earned between July 30 and October 8, 2007. We've learned in today's motion Kaplan is asking for fees in excess of $300,000 for work performed between October 8 and January 24, 2008. On top of that, Kaplan is asking for in excess of $100,000 for fees he will accumulate between now and the end of the custody trial, set for April.

A hearing on Kaplan's request for attorney's fees is set for March 10.

197. Had Britney cooperated at the beginning, she and Kevin would have paid for their own costs and legal fees. The extra fees incurred were due to her constant manipulation and lack of respect for the Court system, which caused extra pleadings to be filed, missed depositions to be rescheduled, etc., etc. Even if Kevin had the money to pay, because she created all the extra time and work, she should pay. She brought this on herself. ella

198. Get a job Kfed!!! Ok you went from Fresno (not that great) to living in LA. Find a more affordable house to support your legion of children with Britney and Shar Jackson, stop spending 4000 a month on food and you'll be cool, TRUST ME! Then you can afford to make payments on your legal bills. Hey, if he has to pay 500,000PLUS to prove Brit is this TERRRRRRRRRIBLE GOD awful mother (while other children in the US are really being abused and neglected without even paid nannies to care for them) I question why they choose to argue the fundamental makeup of Britney's parenting skills while ignoring their own actions like irresponsibly budgeting and not living within the boundaries of his means and heaping that drama on the one your battling and making it their responsibility to care for you too. How is a mother supposed to deal when she constantly has to defend herself and by none the less, the "caring" father. If he CARED he would make an effort to resolve the issue instead of benefit from it. It makes you question the allegations and argments against her. She's a young mother, she has LOTS of money, she has lots of family and people to help take care of the children. This is a custody battle, the courts have all the docs stating what Kevin and Britney spend their money on, so lets keep our word and not let Hollywood keep up with this insanity and hold each responsible for his own actions. So, Kevin take responsibility for your own battle and legal fees, come to an agreement like a responsible adult and quit bickering. If you dont get what you wanted its because you dont deserve it. you didnt work for that money, you messed around and now your fighting over it. Britney, get real you cant go out all night with kids and you have to set an example, unfortunately you hooked up with someone that has lower standards than you and you need to look at what great things you have and cut your losses. K-Fed is a slick one that is more of a joke than a good poke I'd say. He's like the rose's thorn prick of poison.

203. Where I am from attornys do what their clients tell them to do so it really sounds to me like K-Fed told Kaplan to go after the fees from Britney. I still think that was Kaplans idea from the beginning because he knew K-Fed would not be able to afford him. I mean what publicity for Kaplan! And now even K-Fed thinks he is going to be a big deal because of all this.

204. Kevin should be responsible for half of those fees. He has appeared on One Tree Hill for several episodes and he get hugh amounts for showin up at clubs. Just because she makes over $700,000 dollars a month doesn't mean the judge should let them try to suck her dry. Talk about being blessed when her married Britney. He should man up and insist that he pay something himself.
