K-Fed's Lawyer Wants Five for Fighting

K-Fed's lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, has filed a motion asking the court to make Britney pay attorney's fees. If the motion is granted, we've learned Brit will be on the hook for more than $500,000 since last July.

Here's how it breaks down: The court has already awarded Kaplan $120,000 for fees earned between July 30 and October 8, 2007. We've learned in today's motion Kaplan is asking for fees in excess of $300,000 for work performed between October 8 and January 24, 2008. On top of that, Kaplan is asking for in excess of $100,000 for fees he will accumulate between now and the end of the custody trial, set for April.

A hearing on Kaplan's request for attorney's fees is set for March 10.

I have rooted for her time and time again. I felt horrible for her when she first went nuclear and shaved her head.

My original point was that people are all offended that K-Fed is using her for her money and expecting her to foot his legal bill, but in all honesty its nothing that women haven't been doing to men for years and years with the court systems approval and no one screamed about it then, but now that the tables are turned everyone is all up in arms about it.

Well when everyone started screaming about womens rights and equal opportunities I bet they never considered this situation.

Unfortunately right now no matter how big of a looser K-Fed is, he is the better parent, regardless of what his motives are. He isn't out partying at all hours of the night, he isn't shaving his head, or flashing his privates, and he isn't making a scene everytime he leaves his house.

Britney courted the media attention for so long and now that its turned ugly she can't handle the pressure. If she didn't want her life played out for all to see she shouldn't have started the ball rolling.

And if it wasn't bad enough her stealing Kevin away from his family, now she's gone and hooked herself up with another married man, and a friggin papparazzi to boot.

I agree with everyone that she needs mental help and the people she is surrounded by are not condusive to her getting help, but I'm not going to pity her because the courts are finally taking the actions that they should have done years ago.

Its about time men have equal rights, and opportunities when it comes to parenting, and its about time that us women are held to the same standards as the men that we, for years were high above (according to the family laws).

As for K-Fed furnishing the sperm, well really up until now all Britney has done is furnished the womb. I hope she gets the opportunity to change that in the future but for right now I think the children are where they should be, atleast until she gets medical help. :)

YOU HAVE A VERY GOOD POINT. MAKES A LOT OF SENSE WHAT YOU SAY. YOU KNOW, I HAVE JUST REALLY BEEN FED UP WITH BRITTANY UNTIL A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO. I'M JUST REALLY STARTING TO FEEL SORRY FOR THE GIRL. MENTAL ILLNESS IS A BAD DISEASE AND I'M JUST NOW SEEING IT IN HER. IT'S NOT ANY DIFFERENT THAN IF SOMEONE HAS DIABETES.......MENTAL ILLNESS IS A DISEASE. 99. Yes, Britney has completely screwed up everything, more than once, but THAT lazy fathead needs to get off his cheap, sorry behind and pay his own damned lawyer. The fact is that he is paid ONLY the child support from Britney, leaving him free to sit around monitoring X17 and TMZ just looking for the next time she makes a blunder so he can make a call to his lawyer. O yeah, he did one episode of CSI, his "album" that took more of Britney's money to make than it sold, and now his "gig" on One Tree Hill. That qualifies him for scale pay, right? Unless he "donates" his time, so he can pretend he has talent, class, and fame. Since most 'scale' actors keep their day jobs waiting tables, something tells me he'd have trouble feeding lil' Tater Tot and Small Fry if left to his own "skills", LET ALONE PAYING SHAR FOR HIS OTHER CHILDREN'S SUPPORT. Funny how "Mr.Mom" isn't taking SHAR'S kids out for photo-ops anymore. But, wow, all these recent photos of the boys on the covers of many magazines..............hmmm, looks like he really WAS close to MamaLynne. Way to sell out your own kids, while they're still dealing with the loss of their mother, and her mind before that. What an impressive display of fatherly love, concern, and compassion for his children. ALL of them.

102. I believe K-F**k and Shar Jackson were out to get Brittany's money all along. However they could. Brittany needs some serious help she's in PAIN people. Mental illness is a SERIOUS life threatening illness, Where is her family? Where are the people who love her and should be helping her? She hasn't always been like this so obviously something happened. I do believe K-F**k is trying to push her over the edge then the kids will inherit all her money and guess who will be in charge of it then? He should be ordered by the courts to pay HIS OWN attorney fees. If anything she should pay for the the courts time for the missed court dates but it is all part of the illness and the mental issues she has right now. This poor young woman is alone in this world surrounded by GREEDY people with their hands out all around her, The # 1 is the ex who should be working instead of lounging around living off her and doing his own drugs.

104. California law allows for the less wealthy party to have the wealthy party pay their attorney's fees. This is so that a rich spouse can't totally steamroller their ex in court only on the basis of money.

Furthermore, Britney has done everything possible during this trial to make things ten or even a hundred times more difficult than they need to be. She has refused to obey court orders, she has refused to show up (even when SHE calls the hearing!), she's just been a huge waste of the court's - and the lawyer's - time.

She won't miss the money, boys and girls. She earns three quarters of a million a month, and she's worth over a hundred million. A few hundred thousand dollars to compensate the lawyer of the father of the children she's too unfit to mother isn't going to cramp her lifestyle.
