Time for a Good Ol' Intervention

TMZ has been reporting for weeks that Britney's family and some professionals in her life have been planning a "creative way" to deal with her mental problems. It looks like the time has arrived.

Sources told TMZ "if it happens," it should happen this week. Last night, Brit's mom, Lynne, her dad, Jamie, cousin Alli, as well as Sam Lutfi and Adnan Ghalib all showed up at Britney's house and were all there at the same time.

Brit's mom and dad (and others) have known for months that a bipolar disorder -- and not substance abuse -- is at the root of her problems. They cannot involuntarily commit her (impossible under these circumstances) and Brit has refused to voluntarily enter a hospital or even undergo evaluation for the problem. But now the plan is underway.

Here's what's significant: Britney has not spoken to her mom for a while -- no contact at all. Last night, Britney and Lynne (along with Sam) left the house at one point and went to the drugstore, so it seems they are now interacting.

There were signs last night that Britney didn't feel as warm toward her dad, that she didn't want anything to do with him.

This move has been in the planning stages for well over a month. It should begin to unfold IF Britney cooperates, and that is the wild card.

BTW, this "creative" intervention is different from what her divorce lawyers pitched to Commissioner Scott Gordon last week. They are not involved in this one.

Stay tuned ...

151. Oh, great that her mom is there. (not) I mean, that is the BEST thing she could have done...go with her to the drugstore!!! with the other losers, too! I don't think her mom is the answer here.

152. Grawled under the rocks? Huh? Who dis 54 yr old talking schmack ditty wack? OOOOOOeeeeeee? Rased by a person? How about razed under the grawled gravel of rocks?

Anyways, majority rules she needs to get the hell out of LA and get back to her roots in Louisiana...Don't worry Brad, you'll get some hired help to finish building homes for the unfortunate that lost their homes in Katrina....hell, everyone in Brit's family needs to contribute to Louisiana, NOT LA....she just still country folk and cannot win in hardcore LA...she needs to get exorcised in Louisiana y'all...read her bible and remember her roots...

153. 20. #10: By implying that bipolar disorder has caused all of her whacky behavior does a huge disservice to the many people who legitametely suffer from this devasting disease. My grandfather was bipolar and I know how difficult the disease is.
*************************************************

You have said what I have saying all along. True bi-polar disorder is actually not very common. It has become a catch all for anyone exhibiting general "wacky" behavior that can't be explained. True bi-polars will experience extreme highs followed by extreme lows that will leave them in an almost, if not completely, catatonic state. I have a family member who has had this terrible mental disorder for 50 years and has been in and out of institutions her whole life. When she is on a high, she acts like she just snorted an eightball. When she is on a low, she won't even speak or get out of bed.

Pinky, as with your grandfather, my daughter is "exactly" the same at almost 25 years old. I still think that Brittney is bi-polar though. I think I see the "low" coming...

154. i still blame her parents.. this problem is not a new one..her mother's ambition but her daughter's health on the line.. you dont expose your children to the show biz world no matter how talented they are if they are not able to cope with the stresses....bi polar disorder is not learnt.. its not a disease you catch of a toilet seat. i hope its worth the sacrifice of their daughters welfare to see her like this...what is the whole point of fame and fortune and what value does it have if it ends up like this..?.The thirties films star "frances Farmer" ended up in a looney bin ... well, it may take incarceration to see this young woman thru ... but as long as she continues to live in lala land there is no hope for any recovery..she should quit show business for good .. or at least for a couple of yrs. for the sake of her sanity..show biz stars are like buses..when one moves off another one takes its place... there are more than enough brit brit clones waiting in the wings...

155. There is only one thing wrong with Britney. That is the slime crawling around her continually with cameras. That's all, the creeps with cameras. Leave the gal alone.

156. This girl needs to pry her head from her backside and get herself some help. If she cared a tinker's damn about her kids, she'd have already been in therapy and whether required or not, shown up for court. Never thought I'd say this, but K-fed is by far the better parent and seems to have his act together when it comes to the kids.

158. I hate to say it, but, interventions on someone as crazy as Britney just makes them worse.

I know, because I tried the same thing with my crazy sister. My sis was dead not many years afterwards...

Posted at 2:22PM on Jan 29th 2008 by Been there, tried that!

160. hmm well IF she does get help and come on peeps not like she hasnt been doing court ordered psyche visits and supposedely a psyche visit just the other day I dont think she is bi polar i think she is afraid, exhausted, and more likely has post partum depression considering that until she had kids she was fine. A great entertainer like her or not many many ppl do and that is why we are reading the post about her every single day that is why she is makeing lots of money she has made her life doing this and until she had kids she was fine. so i dont know what kind of intervention she is getting but i hope they treat her for ppd. good luck LA with all this maybe there should be a law against taking someones picture and posting without consent. then maybe we wouldn't know everytime she took a dumb at the local chevron.

161. Yawn. I'll pay attention when this bitch is ready to have evening tea with Heath Ledger. That day...I'll tune in TMZ. I'm sure you won't skimp on the details

162. why do people continue to harrass her? yes, she is a celebrity, she is the most photographed woman in the world. there was only one other person like that, Princess Diana. No matter who she is to you people, she will always be those precious little boys' mom. People need to leave her alone and let her heal, the majority of all of her trouble is the people that seem to know her every move, and follow her everywhere she goes. What is the law on stalking? Why is it not the same for some as it is for others? Everyone has the right to have privacy. Look at what she has been through, she divorced, she lost her boys , and on top of all that everything she does is made public. WHY? Leave her alone and let sort her life out and regain her children. Has anyone thought of how this is also affecting her small little boys? They are probably wondering where there mommy is. They are too young to understand, but not to young to understand seeing their mommy on the television or on the cover of some magazine and wondering why mommy is not with them. But people seem determined to make a dollar or more off of her, look at all she has went through, anybody would act crazy if they had camera after camera flashing in their eyes every minute of every day, and if she does have a disorder, you are not helping her by harassing her, you are making it worse. she needs the prayers of everyone and not the condemnations. it is not our place to judge her, not until you have walked a mile in her shoes.

.Yes, she is a celebrity but she is only human. She chose her lifestyle and who are some people to try and take it away from her and punish her for the way she lives. She loves her kids and I have not seen any proof that she had ever not been a good mother. What mommy has never made mistakes? Hers just seem to be greater only because of who she is, and everyone is obsessed with wanting to watch her fail. That is not fair to her or her family

164. I'm totally surprised she doesn't have an assortment of prescription drugs already! I mean, come on now, doesn't everybody in Hollywood, even the goody-goody's, have a doc that dispenses meds like they're M & M's??? If, in time, she is given prescription drugs, she ought to be monitored carefully by somebody who is trusted, because if not, it'll only be a matter of time before she's pushin' up daisies!!! Getting off track a little, when something does happen such as an "accidental overdose", the physicians need to be investigated thoroughly!!! It seems to me that people with $$$ get the meds they want whether they're needed or not!!!

165. Hey - for those of you who come here making fun of TMZ for diagnosing Britney without a medical degree - you have no problem adding your own diagnosis.

You are the ones that really need to get a life.
