Time for a Good Ol' Intervention

TMZ has been reporting for weeks that Britney's family and some professionals in her life have been planning a "creative way" to deal with her mental problems. It looks like the time has arrived.

Sources told TMZ "if it happens," it should happen this week. Last night, Brit's mom, Lynne, her dad, Jamie, cousin Alli, as well as Sam Lutfi and Adnan Ghalib all showed up at Britney's house and were all there at the same time.

Brit's mom and dad (and others) have known for months that a bipolar disorder -- and not substance abuse -- is at the root of her problems. They cannot involuntarily commit her (impossible under these circumstances) and Brit has refused to voluntarily enter a hospital or even undergo evaluation for the problem. But now the plan is underway.

Here's what's significant: Britney has not spoken to her mom for a while -- no contact at all. Last night, Britney and Lynne (along with Sam) left the house at one point and went to the drugstore, so it seems they are now interacting.

There were signs last night that Britney didn't feel as warm toward her dad, that she didn't want anything to do with him.

This move has been in the planning stages for well over a month. It should begin to unfold IF Britney cooperates, and that is the wild card.

BTW, this "creative" intervention is different from what her divorce lawyers pitched to Commissioner Scott Gordon last week. They are not involved in this one.

Stay tuned ...

152. Here we go again. Sue and Elle, Kevin is divorced from Britney and is no longer responsible for her. Luckily he was there to raise the kids. Kevin didn't start the drug issue, Britney's family did when they got her to go to rehab. They don't take people into rehab unless they are addicted to something. She didn't stay for the entire 45 day program and came out supposedly cured. You don't get cured at rehab, you just get yourself under control. The relapse rate is very high, especially if you don't complete the program. The drug stuff was already on record with the judge and it is his job to make sure she's not drugged up around the kids. Britney was acting like she could be on drugs again. Kevin had every reason to ask the judge to intervene. Some of us actually care about the kids and don't have our heads up Britney's ass. What about this don't you understand. Are you both so ignorant and dense that you can't look past your dislike for a man getting the kids in a divorce. Britney and friends are trying to use the paps and news outlets to recreate the original fairy tale story about Britney but they don't know what they're doing and it's just too late for that. Britney has created this mess for her own publicity and it will not end until she quits feeding it. Britney was screwed up by her parents' lack of parenting and her biggest problem is that she has the maturity of a spoiled preteen girl. Parents are supposed to guide you into adulthood and they didn't. Now everyone wants the parents to straighten it all out and it probably isn't going to happen.

154. sidmabb: and therein lies the problem. She is not a child, she is a 25 year old woman. If she looks like a child to you then you need some psychological help too.

155. 142. Elle; Last time I looked CNN was a news outlet and aren't they just getting in on the action with this story? I've seen their reporting on Brit and they have been just as exploitive as every other outlet. Looks like the pot is calling the kettle black...

156. Oh, great that her mom is there. (not) I mean, that is the BEST thing she could have done...go with her to the drugstore!!! with the other losers, too! I don't think her mom is the answer here.

157. She needs to dump that loser Adnan and keep her ass at home instead of running the streets at all hours.

158. It's about ding dang time y'all.....enough of this brat's nonsense...get her off the streets and out of the Rite Aids before she really does some damage...she thinks the streets of LA is her playground and thinks she is above the law....go back home to your roots in Louisiana, look at your humble beginnings and thank the Lord you didn't kill anyone yet...Reconnect with your pregnant sister and stay home in Louisiana....I 'memba' the nice article and pics of your Louisiana home in 'In Style' magazine couple years back.....wha' happen? She needs to go back home so everyone in LA can breathe better and drive to where we wanna go without her holding up traffic....she finally needs to step down and just never appear again for another 60 years....

AMEN!

Posted at 1:47PM on Jan 29th 2008 by she'll have Rite aid withdrawals

159. Is it a coincidence that her baby sister's show is back on the air and premiering TONIGHT??

Remember what Britney did when JamieLynn announced her pregnancy...that's right, Britney threw a fit big enough to get her hauled away in an ambulance!

Britney is SO jealous of her little sister and the attention she's getting. Not to mention JamieLynn is still pretty and fresh faced, unlike Britney. Britney just looks haggared and wore out.

Anyways, majority rules she needs to get the hell out of LA and get back to her roots in Louisiana...Don't worry Brad, you'll get some hired help to finish building homes for the unfortunate that lost their homes in Katrina....hell, everyone in Brit's family needs to contribute to Louisiana, NOT LA....she just still country folk and cannot win in hardcore LA...she needs to get exorcised in Louisiana y'all...read her bible and remember her roots...

162. 20. #10: By implying that bipolar disorder has caused all of her whacky behavior does a huge disservice to the many people who legitametely suffer from this devasting disease. My grandfather was bipolar and I know how difficult the disease is.
*************************************************

You have said what I have saying all along. True bi-polar disorder is actually not very common. It has become a catch all for anyone exhibiting general "wacky" behavior that can't be explained. True bi-polars will experience extreme highs followed by extreme lows that will leave them in an almost, if not completely, catatonic state. I have a family member who has had this terrible mental disorder for 50 years and has been in and out of institutions her whole life. When she is on a high, she acts like she just snorted an eightball. When she is on a low, she won't even speak or get out of bed.

Pinky, as with your grandfather, my daughter is "exactly" the same at almost 25 years old. I still think that Brittney is bi-polar though. I think I see the "low" coming...

Posted at 1:57PM on Jan 29th 2008 by TMZ is full of it

163. i still blame her parents.. this problem is not a new one..her mother's ambition but her daughter's health on the line.. you dont expose your children to the show biz world no matter how talented they are if they are not able to cope with the stresses....bi polar disorder is not learnt.. its not a disease you catch of a toilet seat. i hope its worth the sacrifice of their daughters welfare to see her like this...what is the whole point of fame and fortune and what value does it have if it ends up like this..?.The thirties films star "frances Farmer" ended up in a looney bin ... well, it may take incarceration to see this young woman thru ... but as long as she continues to live in lala land there is no hope for any recovery..she should quit show business for good .. or at least for a couple of yrs. for the sake of her sanity..show biz stars are like buses..when one moves off another one takes its place... there are more than enough brit brit clones waiting in the wings...

164. This girl needs to pry her head from her backside and get herself some help. If she cared a tinker's damn about her kids, she'd have already been in therapy and whether required or not, shown up for court. Never thought I'd say this, but K-fed is by far the better parent and seems to have his act together when it comes to the kids.

165. I hate to say it, but, interventions on someone as crazy as Britney just makes them worse.

I know, because I tried the same thing with my crazy sister. My sis was dead not many years afterwards...
