Time for a Good Ol' Intervention

TMZ has been reporting for weeks that Britney's family and some professionals in her life have been planning a "creative way" to deal with her mental problems. It looks like the time has arrived.

Sources told TMZ "if it happens," it should happen this week. Last night, Brit's mom, Lynne, her dad, Jamie, cousin Alli, as well as Sam Lutfi and Adnan Ghalib all showed up at Britney's house and were all there at the same time.

Brit's mom and dad (and others) have known for months that a bipolar disorder -- and not substance abuse -- is at the root of her problems. They cannot involuntarily commit her (impossible under these circumstances) and Brit has refused to voluntarily enter a hospital or even undergo evaluation for the problem. But now the plan is underway.

Here's what's significant: Britney has not spoken to her mom for a while -- no contact at all. Last night, Britney and Lynne (along with Sam) left the house at one point and went to the drugstore, so it seems they are now interacting.

There were signs last night that Britney didn't feel as warm toward her dad, that she didn't want anything to do with him.

This move has been in the planning stages for well over a month. It should begin to unfold IF Britney cooperates, and that is the wild card.

BTW, this "creative" intervention is different from what her divorce lawyers pitched to Commissioner Scott Gordon last week. They are not involved in this one.

Stay tuned ...

106. I agree w the comments about how her reading stuff like this won't help her and could possibly hurt her, I realize you all have a job to do but this is ridicilous, it's not news, it will be news when and if she is recovered and gets her life in order...if she is out somewhere and acting a fool then that is a different thing, she is out in public and is putting herself on blast, you just have the footage to prove it, but this is overstepping her privacy rights and you are part of that.

hey can you find out why it is that my childs father died 3 months ago at the same hospital Donde West died and we still don't have the autopsy results back yet and he died 3 weeks before her and it is now been like I said 3 months as of the 21st of Jan.

my point to that is there are better things you can be investigating.

107. @101 people with mental diorders can be spoil etc just like anyone else it does not take away from the fact that they have a mental condition. Borderline is also a possiblity which manifest instabiltiy in mood and interpersonal relationships. impulsive behavior, anger and feelings of emptiness are also common. These are all things that need to be assessed.

108. If she wants the help...All the pressure in the world wont MAKE her take that Lithium!

109. This will only work if Britney allows the professionals to help her, she cooperates, and continues to follow through and help herself. Bella

110. Hey TMZ dumbasses, thanks for posting this. Since britney reads this site like clockwork, you've just told her what's going to be coming. And, since an intervention requires some secrecy (to get the person into a location where the family & friends are located), you've just told britney about the thing that she's been avoiding. Congratulations, TMZ dumbasses, you just made the intervention that much more difficult to pull off. What a bunch of a**holes...

111. This is finally some good news for Britney! Please listen to your mother and get help so you can be happy again and have your kids back.

112. She is a "frequent and habitual dug user" She has never submitted for psychological evalation - it's in every post I've read about her. PRESENTING HER PRBLEMS AS BIPOLAR is just PR spin.

114. What this site, the media, and media-whoring "father of those little boys" and his attorney have done to this woman is unforgiveable. What Lufti did by calling "The View" yesterday (women who have helped tear her apart) and then have the conversation exploited internationally by Walters and the witches is unforgiveable. Walters has no common sense as a supposed wisdomkeeper.

How would any of you like to have the personal (legal) wranglings of your life on behalf of your children posted on a site like this wherein your children are concerned? I truly feel all these legal postings are more long-term destructive to the future of these children than any harm from their mother.

Hopefully, her mother will now be able to regain her trust. It is time that Lynne Spears find the grit to be a mother in the "real world" and support her daughter in pursuit of whatever counseling she needs (medications are not always the answer). IMO she violated her daughter's trust a long time ago by hunkering down with the "father of those little children".

Britney Spears needs support not to be harmed by others right now!

115. Let's see your medical degree, TMZ.

If not, stop diagnosing people with mental illnesses. That's a doctor's job.

Britney shows more signs of Histrionic Personality Disorder than bipolar, and personality disorders ARE NOT MENTAL ILLNESSES.

"What is Histronic Personality Disorder?
The word histrionic means "dramatic or theatrical". Histrionic personality disorder is characterized by a pervasive pattern of excessive emotionality and attempts to get attention in strange and unusual ways. Histrionic personality disorder is present in about 2% to 3% of the general population and is more common among women.

Those with severe cases of the disorder may have maladaptive behavioral patterns which cause significant difficulties in their lives. People with mild cases of this personality disorder can live pretty normally, however, during times of extreme stress or external pressure, the symptoms can gain strength and seriously interfere with their ability to function adequately.

Symptoms

Individuals with histrionic personality disorder exhibit five or more of the following symptoms:

* Attention-seeking, feel uncomfortable when they are not the center of attention.

* Inappropriate sexually seductive, or provocative behavior.

* Rapidly shifting and shallow expression of emotions.

* Consistently uses physical appearance to draw attention to self.

* Speech style is excessively impressionistic and lacking in detail.

* Exhibits self-dramatization, theatricality, and exaggerated expression of emotion.

* Impressionable; overly trusting; gullible; easily influenced by others; forms beliefs based on little or no evidence and defends those beliefs passionately.

* Considers relationships to be more intimate than they actually are."

116. Why is Lufti with the family? I cant understand this scene. If her mother wants to help her she should try and get rid of that peice of crap Lufti first. Then get rid of Adnan (the opportunist). If her mother truely loves her she would do everything she can to get rid of the deadwood that hangs on her daughter. I hate to say this but K-Fed has the right idea trying to find out what these idiots are doing with the mother of his children especially Lufti. I believe Lufti encourages Britney behavior so that he can get his slice of the pie from the press. I hope K-Fed lawyers keep digging crap on Lufti because I am sure they will find out just how bad the "manager and paps boy friend" are and why they are with her. Its a shame this woman gets used by everyone around her. She's just a paycheck to them. Hopefully K-Fed and the family can step in and try and put a stop to it.

118. Jazz....britney listening to her mom in the first place is why she's who she is today. A washed up ragged out loser!

Posted at 11:29AM on Jan 29th 2008 by penelope

119. I have ragged on Briney quite a bit, but I am feeling sorry for her in some ways because she really does need to go into seclusion somewhere. I truly do hope that the intervention works. As of Monday, I've gotten a little bit of respect for Sam Lufti, yet I still don't trust him completely as it took Britney awhile to get to this point, way before Adnan.

Regardless, if anyone in the Britney camp reads these posts today, I'd like them to share a video with them. I saved it from a few ago, as it was written by another person. It doesn't just apply to Britney Spears, as it applies to ALL of us...:)

It is called, "It ain't easy being Britney Spears"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yrgyjEC5TxY&NR=1

I called the video, "God calling Britney, is anyone home?"

120. 103. @101 people with mental diorders can be spoil etc just like anyone else it does not take away from the fact that they have a mental condition. Borderline is also a possiblity which manifest instabiltiy in mood and interpersonal relationships. impulsive behavior, anger and feelings of emptiness are also common. *******************************************************

I agree, a mental condition is no joke, and it can happen to anybody. I'm guessing Brit may be Borderline because I'm sure my boyfriend has the same condition (and of course, in typical Borderline fashion, he seems to have no insight into his own odd behaviour and refuses to get tested...it's called "counter-will," and the more you push, the more the person suffering from it will dig in their heels). I've done a lot of research into it, and actually told a mental health provider that his behaviour "was just like Britney Spears," so that they would know what I mean. Basically, the counsellor explained it like this: when you're a teenager, you think with your heart. You respond to everything emotionally. And as you grow into an adult and mature, you begin to respond to situations with an equal balance of head and heart. Adults who suffer from Borderline Personality Disorder will continue to respond to situations with their emotions, and don't have the ability to "think" about things first the way normal adults do. This is why there are such extremes of emotion, so much impulsive behaviour, and so many troubles in interpersonal relationships. This explains so much about Britney's behaviour - I'm very curious to see how it all ends up for her.
