And, now that the deceased was found to have drugs in her system and Brandy is not being held legally liable, this is ridiculous. I guess a cash settlement makes all the pain go away.

58. They can go after Brandy civilly even though she isn't being pursued criminally. Most states only require that Brandy be proven to have a significant impact on the death. So yes, the head-on collission started it, but could it be proven that Brandy was following too closely and that if she hadn't been hit by Brandy that she would have lived? She then would be a primary contributor to the death and be held liable for some of the fault in the death, at least legally speaking. I bet the husband with a good lawyer could win some money out of it.
