Britney Officially on Psychiatric Hold

Britney SpearsLaw enforcement sources tell TMZ an L.A. County Superior Court judge has just signed a "5150," meaning Britney Spears is on a three-day psychiatric hold at the UCLA Medical Center.

We're told there is a "good possibility" that it will be extended to 14 days. We've also learned there have been several parallel attempts to get Britney on a 5150. Her lawyers, Anne Kiley and Tara Scott, secured a new psychiatrist late last week -- she's the one who triggered the 5150 last night.

At the same time, we're told Britney's mother, father and brother have been "working closely with the LAPD for weeks" to get her back in for psychiatric care. There is now a dogfight between Britney's family and Sam Lutfi over who will make medical decisions, however, that fight is now put on hold because the judge now makes the call.

Once the psychiatric hold ends, something has to give.

136. If they can keep her on her meds, she'll be fine. BUT that's the problem. I had a sister like her who took the meds and then she felt better, so she got off the meds and went beserk again. Someone has to keep reminding Brittany she HAS TO STAY on those meds in order to get well and have her kids back again!!! Its tough, but it can be done. I've seen it with my own sister.

I wish her all the luck in the world..... FINALLY THEY'VE GOTTEN HER SOME HELP.....

138. Note to Sam Lufti. who are you in this picture? Are you next of kin, are you married to Brit? NO!! Those arw the only two things that will let you have ANY say in her care. Fighting with Britneys family will only get you into BIG trouble, so take a hint, Find another sugar mama and stay away from her. She is a very sick girl. Lynn is you read this, get a restraining order to keep Sam away. You are all that Brit has now. Sam has no legal rights, remember that. I wish all the best for you Britney. You are a fighter and you will beat this. You are beautiful, talented and have 2 darling sons. You are physically healthy and really have a lot to be thankful for. IF people would leave you alone and let you have some kind of normalcy in your life you will get well and get YOUR life back on track. I have faith that you will. 140. If the reports of Britney going 60+ hours with little or no sleep are factual, that laxative stimulant she was seen carrying from the drug store, Corectol, would NOT have helped matters. Also, laxative use for weight control is a terrible shrouded secret which depletes the body of necessary nutrients and can make one very, very ill if not used strictly for its intended purpose and according to label directions. She's now in a place to be helped. They'll do blood work and address her physical and psychological concerns while she's 5150.

141. It is very sad that she hasn't seen her kids at all. Even a four hour supervised visit at a neutral venue would be humane. This commissioner has gone to far.
I have a friend who is bi-polar, and when she would not stay on her medication, the mania periods were just unbelievable. She would become paranoid and make up all kinds of stories. She became hyper sexual during mania, and the list goes on and on. It was like dealing with another person whom I did not know. It is eccentricity to the extreme, and I did have to disassociate from her because of my child. it was too crazy during the mania periods. When she would get depressed, the lows were so low that she wanted to commit suicide. She could barely get out of bed.
My point is to not judge Britney so harshly. She has a chemical imbalance, obviously from all the reports. She can stabilize with medication, but the problem with most people with bi-polar is they don't stay on their medication because of the side effects, i.e., weight gain and feeling lethargic. My friend finally was put on a medication that worked for her after testing many, finally for the emotional healing of her family, she has been on her medication for over a year now. The stress and strain on family and close freinds of a bi-polar is very stressful...it can be hell.
There are two actresses wo have sucessfully stayed on their medication now who are doing well. One is Linda from the movie the "Terminator," and the other one is Carrie from the movie, "Star Wars." Britney needs support to face her chemical imbalance and find the right medication for her. I am sure the pregnancies triggered the imbalance even more, and recovery after prenancy must have been even more difficult for Briyney.

Let the parents, the judge and physciatrist do their job now and get Britney well before she has spiraled out of total control....She cannot make decisions and it seems this SAM, whoever that idiot is needs to be totally cut from the picture. she is too young to waste herself in this manner. I do however, think she should see her boys with constant supervision. No over nite and no all day.....these boys do not understand why, "there is no mommy"

145. Thank goodness some one has come to rescue of Brittany. I understand her possible diagnois of Bi-Polar. I have had Bi-Polar for many years, and thankful for the psychiatrist who have now gotten me in remission. I am going to pray for Brittany and her family so she can get care she really needs. I hope somebody looks at the people who are around and get rid of them. They are money grubbing people who don't care about her at all.
Hang in Brittany, it will get better if you wanted.

146. Hmmm, Brits family fighting a guy named Sam Lufti over who controls their daughter....Doesn't this seem a lot like Vergie Arthur and Howard K. Stern in the Anna Nicole Smith saga? Lets just hope things don't end the same way for Brit as they did for Anna. She needs help and instead of put her under a magnifying glass lets leave her be to get better.

149. BRITNEY is being held on CALIFORNIA's 5150 statute - mandating psychiatric evaluation. WHAT HAPPENS NEXT IS ANYONE'S GUESS??? Should have stayed with JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE and not got knocked-up by the human sperm donor K-FED or that slimy English Arab!!!

not just a danger to herself but to those around her, all she has been doing is running
about town and having fully public episodes.
