"Grey's" Star Checked In to UCLA Psych Ward

TMZ has learned actor Justin Chambers, Dr. Alex Karev on "Grey's Anatomy," checked himself in to the psych ward at UCLA Medical Center this week. Yes, it's the same place ...

Chambers' rep confirmed to TMZ that star checked in on Monday and checked out yesterday.

The rep claims Chambers, a married father of five, was "exhausted and suffers from a sleeping disorder. He went in voluntarily to get some help."

Chambers was in the same ward where Britney is being treated.

46. If I had 5 kids, I'd be exhausted too. Don't mock the man....at least he's willing to get help. It ain't easy putting "psych treatment" on your health benefit application.

48. Y'all need to endure the stress of success then perhaps you won't be so quick to throw stones. Fact is, someone who will voluntarily check themselves in is making a smart move when facing insurmountable pressure. Justin may have saved himself a lot of misery. It's claimed in this story that he suffers from a sleep disorder. Most of the readers here have heard of this but how many of you have had intractible insomnia? How many have gone 5 days w/o sleep? Imagine it if you can. It is awful and leads to psychosis. You definitely don't want to go there. I for one have a greater respect now for Justin because of his obvious self respect. I wish the same kind of common sense for the bad news girls on TMZ. I won't hold my breath!!

49. If I read it right, it say's he checked in on Monday and was out on Tuesday. Brit went last night which was Wednesday.
Can we say FIRST! He was there before Britney. No one knew the package was coming except those in the know. I doubt
if he was one of them. Besides, his is sleep problem. Glad he is getting help. Brit is not in the mood to meet anybody!
Watch that flying plate .....Just say in.......

55. Why are people ragging him for getting help - when he obviously needs it but the same people are ragging Britney for NOT getting help?

The dude obviously is in bad shape, otherwise, he wouldn't have gone to a psych ward. Who the hell would go there unless they were in dire straits?

I am glad he is pro-active and have the initiative to go help. Insomnia is horrible. It can make you go crazy. It's something very serious and not anything to joke about.

And, have been known to sneak into hospitals under false pretenses...posing as staff members, a patients family member, flower delivery person. They're classless leaches, obvious by the way they have tresspassed on your right to privacy!

60. I think it's great. Good for him. I'm sure he could have gotten in somewhere 'under the radar' but he chose not to. Nothing to be ashamed of. As far as it ruining his credibility, that's the dumbest GD thing I've ever heard of.
