Britney SpearsBritney Spears has been released from the psychiatric ward at UCLA Medical Center, the L.A. Times is reporting.

According to the paper, Spears slipped quietly out -- compared to the massive fanfare that went on the night she went in.

A law enforcement source tells TMZ the hospital let her go "because she was no longer required to stay there after 11:30 AM." We have not confirmed this independently, however, if the hospital decides Britney is no longer a danger to herself or others, the hospital loses its basis to hold her against her will.

31. This is a terrible idea. She will go right back to Sam and this will all start over again. I can't believe the hospital released her. They need to have their heads examined as well.

33. Poeple do not realize it is against the law to to hold an adult against there will unless it is proven they are danger to themsevles or others. Apparantly it cannot be proven. It is totally impossible to hold someone against there will. If she will not co-operate or tells them what they want to hear, then they have to release her. end of story.

40. Like having her dad put as her conservator helped!!!!! Like her dad said in his Declaration, the hospital was keeping her until she is well. She probably didn't enjoy having to see her parents all day and night at UCLA.
