Britney SpearsBritney Spears has been released from the psychiatric ward at UCLA Medical Center, the L.A. Times is reporting.

According to the paper, Spears slipped quietly out -- compared to the massive fanfare that went on the night she went in.

A law enforcement source tells TMZ the hospital let her go "because she was no longer required to stay there after 11:30 AM." We have not confirmed this independently, however, if the hospital decides Britney is no longer a danger to herself or others, the hospital loses its basis to hold her against her will.

77. oh how sad. I hope she will be ok- really pulling for her. Right now she has so many people pulling AT her. I hope she keeps her mom and dad close. She needs her family, and I hope they all make it

79. I doubt they released her on her own.....again...they have professionals involved....I am praying the family wisked her away to an "undesclosed" place. I have to give them credit....they did it without TMZ or any pap's knowledge......I am keeping the faith and hope alive....
I hope Sam does try to get in contact with her so he can get arrested. Plenty of time has passed for Law Enforcement to get what they need...this is not over

81. How seriously STUPID is this decision! When she ends up dead everyone who was around her in the hospital will say "I told you she should have stayed".

82. I hate to say this but I think she will wind up dead. She refuses to get the long term help and treatment she so desperatly needs! Britney will purposely end her life with an overdose. Poor little Sean and Jayden. They are the real victims in this tragedy.

84. Guggerballs - that made no sense. I'm here for the obvious reasons - i like this site, i like reading this garbage, but seriously, just like your pinata theory, it's as if this situation is like beating a dead horse already.. she's sick - she was in the best hospital in the world, and people continue to look and make excuses for her - she doesnt even make excuses for herself, so why blame her or wish bad on someone so much? i'm not saying everything has to be Peopleish and all happy with roses, but for real, it's the same sh&t everyday, it takes the fun out of blogging anymore..

85. Only in California. God help any poor schmuck who gets in her path on the road. What is WRONG with those people? Who in their right mind would release her? Even a 14-day hold was insufficient, given her potential for disaster.

88. I thought they were holding her until the 14th? I thought they classified her as "gravely disabled"? They fixed that in just a few days? Riiight.

I was born at UCLA Medical Center and I always recommend them for health care but I think they just made a big mistake. This is going to be a mess. I don't even want to think about what could happen now.
