Brit's Parents -- We're Soooo Frustrated

Jamie SpearsThe following statement was released to CNN's Anderson Cooper by Jamie and Lynne Spears, Britney's parents:

"As parents of an adult child in the throws (sic) of a mental health crisis, we were extremely disappointed this morning to learn that over the recommendation of her treating psychiatrist, our daughter Britney was released from the hospital that could best care for her and keep her safe. We are deeply concerned about our daughter's safety and vulnerability and we believe her life is presently at risk. There are conservatorship orders in place created to protect our daughter that are being blatantly disregarded. We ask only that the court's orders be enforced so that a tragedy may be averted."

31. YES!! This is what Brit REALLY wants, attention from her dad (who is in a very tought spot for a father). I don't know why they waited this long to intervene, but finally her parents are stepping up to the plate. Britney is sick and needs help.

Team Spears!

32. This is really sad. As a sibling to someone who has mental health issues, I find it a disgrace as to how long it takes these days to first of all, diagnose a mental illness, and don't even get me started on all the medications that have to be tried to find one that "works". These "professionals" leave it up to the patient to decide whether or not they need to change medications or if they're well enough to leave hospital care in some cases, and that is just wrong. What a flawed medical system. I feel for Britney because she has to deal with her issues in the public eye. We can only sit back and watch the catastrophe unfold. I really hope this does not end badly.

33. ORIGINAL ARTICLE: Feb 06, 2008 20:06 PM
It appears Sam Lutfi is out to set the record straight and he’s hired a former Federline confidant to help him tell his tale.

Michael Sands, the former spokesperson for Kevin Federline’s attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, is now representing Lutfi, Sands confirmed in an exclusive statement to Access Hollywood.

"I'm really honored to represent a true American hero who's a standup guy and goes the distance. I'm grateful and humbled by the opportunity to represent a young man of Sam Lutfi's caliber,” Sands told Access. “He is a person who has integrity. What an act of God that he came to me.”

Earlier this week, Lutfi was the target of a restraining order filed by Britney’s parents, Jamie and Lynne, filled with sordid accusations against Lufti.

Kaplan reportedly fired Sands late last week.

38. How pathetic can her Dr. and UCLA be? Any attorney that takes her case and fights these parents need to lose their credibility and are incredibly unethical.

This is so beyond bizarre; what else is there left to say?

Her parents did everything they could to save their daughter but the system let her down and she is in the hands of leeches for attorney's and who knows what else.

If she ends up dead, it will not be the least bit shocking...

39. Jeezzzzzzzzzzz my heart goes out to her parents. I get what they are saying and agree with it. They threw themselves in front of the bus for an ungrateful brat of a daughter (mentally ill, or not).

I also agree with the part about their wishes (as conservators) being blatently disregarded. I am disgusted that the little skanky princess is able to ....disable a town in the midst of rush hour traffic, just to do her pathetic driving around. I am disgusted that she continues to put innocent people at risk due to her selfishness. I am disgusted that my heart went out to her last weekend while she was WHINING and WHINING and WHINING and throwing trantrums because she wanted her daddy.

She is released and goes against everything her parents tried to do to help her, possibly even putting themselves at risk.

My prayers are with them, and maybe they should go back home... take care of Jamie Lynn, and their soon to be grandbaby... and let Brit deal with her own affairs.

They have got to be heartbroken. I feel for them.

Brit, you need to grow up little girl. I am a mother of two, and nothing... I mean NOTHING would come between me and my children. I would go to the ends of the earth for them. I wish you had some sort of clue what Motherhood was all about. It is sacrifice and selflessness. Sadly Britney, you will one day regret this. And again, sadly...it will be much too late for you.

42. I hope dad can get her butt back into the hospital where she belongs. This has got to be frustrating for him. At least he has power over her money so she can't go out and buy whatshisface anymore cars.

43. The laws regarding intervention for the mentally ill need to change in this country. I know they are designed to protect the civil rights of individuals, but there needs to be a way to do that and still get them to the help they need. I say this as a family member who dealt with a system that tied my hands until the worst thing I feared happened. It is little comfort once they are dead to hear "you did everything you could". More could have been done with a supportive judicial system.

44. I gasped aloud when I read she was out of the hospital .... can't imagine how that could have happened. I'm not a "fan" of Britney, but I admire the drive and determination that she showed that made her the "pop princess" she used to be. How sad that she's throwing it all away and being preyed upon by men with no conscience.

Britney - I wish you health and happiness. And, I hope you get better soon.
