Feds Want to Know How Heath Got His Meds

The feds are trying to figure out how Heath Ledger got all the prescriptions for the dangerous combination of painkillers and sedatives that led to his accidental overdose.

TV Guide reports that the Drug Enforcement Administration has launched an investigation into how Ledger got prescriptions, if in fact they were prescriptions. According to officials, the DEA has requested copies of Ledger's autopsy as well as the original police report from the crime scene. The NYC medical examiner said this morning that he found the cause of death to be a lethal array of opiates and benzodiazepines; oxycodone, hydrocodone, diazepam, temazepam, alprazolam and doxylamine.

The NYPD has not indicated whether the bottles of medication found at Ledger's apartment, which include some of the drugs found in his body, were specifically prescribed to Ledger.

TMZ spoke to three clinical psychiatrists today, all of whom said it would be "highly unusual" and "reckless" for one physician to prescribe this combination of meds, and suggested that more than one doctor would have to have been involved, or that Ledger could have obtained them by other means.

46. two types of sleep aids
two types of anti anxiety drugs
and other drugs

How can the media or the medical examiner in all honesty say someone who ingests this many drugs died accidently?

Please tell me that?

The feds are trying to figure out how a addict got so many drugs?

Do they need help?

Until we stop accepting this type of denial there will continue to be deaths because of abuse of prescription drugs!

Education not Denile by Media!!

48. I take the same precriptions that Heath takes (except the Valuim) but like I dont have double of the same type of medication ... example I have hydrocodin (vicodin) but not oxicodin ... so who would give him 2 of the same? That makes no sense, I use vicodin, xanex & trazadone (sleeping pills) and flexeral (muscle relaxer) all in the same day & sometimes in high dosages - so its kinda freaky to see that even what yoru doc gives you can kill you .... BUT i think he was soooo tired that he maybe took stuff then forgot - got wrestles cuz he couldnt sleep took more, maybe since people keep saying he wasnt sleeping well he forgot what he took and the time frame and maybe THAT is what did it 2 him. Either way its a very VERY tragic way to die ...

54. My grandmother had neck pain, headaches, and sleep issues for twenty plus years and no one doctor could solve her problem. She had to go through detox more than once in the 1970s because numerous doctors were prescribing everything under the sun just to get her to go away. It turns out that there was an actual issue in the base of her brain that caused her to have an aneurysm and die (this was 1984 before CT Scans and MRIs were commonplace). My point is, rather than finger point, he truly may not have been feeling well and no one was taking him seriously. Please let him rest in peace.

57. My aunt takes dozens of prescriptions or used to from different docs. We had to FINALLY sit the docs down and say LOOK AT WHAT YOU'RE GIVING HER, LOOK AT WHAT THIS DOC IS GIVING HER!! Don't double dose her!!! And they were! There were so many interractions between all these drugs it was unreal! Some docs just don't care what another doc is giving his patient! It's all about $$$$!! Sad it's costing lives!

59. Doctors love to have celebrity clients, will do anything to keep and please them. Drug addicts are good actors and can be very convincing about pain, depression, sleeplessness, etc., and hey Heath was a good actor-I'm sure he was very convincing as he went from doctor to doctor. The guy had a major problem going on... people in the entertainment business are a hugely neurotic, addiction prone lot, does not surprise me a bit.
