TMZ has learned Sam Lutfi, the man who is legally required to stay away from Brit, is counterattacking, with the help of ... drum roll please ... Michael Sands, the former media consultant for K-Daddy's lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan.

Sands, who knows a thing or two about crisis management, has been brought on board by Lutfi to, as Lutfi put it to us, "set the record straight" about who he is.

Sands cryptically told TMZ, "I'm honored to work with a patriot like Sam Lutfi." BTW, while Sands worked for Kaplan, his mission was partly to dig up dirt on Brit's former manager.

For his part, Lutfi told TMZ, "Michael did his research and found the truth."

20. Ya know, this could be Sam's clever ploy to make Spears think he can help her in the custody case, by having *insider* information on Federline and his attorney. It's all very sad. I wish TMZ would leave it alone, but even as I write, here I've been looking for information.

25. Well, I said several days ago that she will be out this week. No surprise. This is a completely free society and a person can't be held against their will unless they are overtly suicidal or violent. I'm pissed of at Brit. It is a damn shame she has two parents who obviously care about her and are willing to go to these extremes to help, but she just thumbs her nose at them. And for anyone thinking her parents did this for money. NO. There was an independent attorney appointed to oversee the process as her parents damn well knew there would be before this whole fiasco even started. Her parents wanted to help her and protect her wealth from the circling heyenas. Can't blame them. In my 39 years I have seen so many parents turn a blind eye to their child's extreme problems. At least they tried to help. Brit's on her own now. Kudos to Jaime and Lynn for sincerely trying.

Who is this Lufti guy anyway???? he's a controlling jerk and needs to get a real job instead of living off someone else claiming he's a manager...my x husband was just like him and beat on me...he seems like he's a few steps away from that with Brit himself. 30. Osama "Sam" Lufti, is a disgustiing human being...this guy has how many restraining orders? And if you read the basis of all those restraining orders, they tend to all have them say tone..that this is a guy who is abusive, verbally & mentally to people who get in his way, or when he does not get his way. People like him dont deserve to exsist!
