M.E. Calls Ledger Death "Accident"
The medical examiner has ruled that Heath Ledger's death is an "accident," resulting from the "abuse of prescription medications."

166. Maybe he was just careless. If accounts were correct, he traveled quite a bit before the time of his death. Perhaps he took one extra pill in a 24-hr period because he lost track of time.
Anyway, it isn't like the rest of us don't do dumb things with our health everyday. I wonder how many people fell asleep while driving to work today...but managed to wake up just in time?
If a celebrity had died this way, there would still be way too much coverage.

167. Oxycodone is an opioid analgesic medication.
Oxycodone has similar effects to morphine and heroin and appeals to the same abuse community.
Abusers simply crush the tablets, then either ingest the resulting powder orally, intra nasally (snorting), via intravenous (injecting), intramuscular, or rectally.
Explains the rolled up bill......and prescription drug abuse is, well using these drugs to get "high"

168. debee_bambino-
In my profession, I have worked many suicide crime scenes where family members swear up & down that their loved one "would never ever hurt themselves." However, in EVERY case, the physical evidence shows otherwise!
Hate to rain on your parade but you don't know the truth either.

169. D'ya know the ONLY comments that are valid on here are those made by the people who actually knew Heath in person.
If you think about the people you know in your own lives then you know that you are able to say for definite "I know that person and I know that they would never do that!" because you know their personality and their views on drug taking and their personnal problems and what's going on in their life, the rest of us don't know anything about Heath.
With that in mind and the fact that these people who actually knew him are saying that he would never commit suicide, everyone else's comments and opinion is essentially just s**t!
It's a case of people just wanting to stick their pennies worth in and nothing more.
R.I.P Heath!

170. Morons, suiciders take all the meds, not a couple from the top of each bottle. That is why it has been ruled an accident. I guess it's easier for uneducated people to trash then to learn. It's not your fault your idiots.

171. To all those who say they have no sympathy posting on this site and say they don't care about Ledger dying, then WTF are you doing reading about him? Get your stories straight.

172. Acute intoxication means a one time dose that was too much, it is the opposite of chronic abuse of drugs.
There was no abuse of the meds which is plain when the cause of death is "acute intoxication"
Learn before you speak.

173. Good point Canada, the police commish said the day Heath died that the bottles were all full and in tact ie) not stewn around. If he wanted to die, he could have easily taken all of them. BTW, leaving no note, as if!!!

174. Heath's death and its cause has really just filled me with sadness. What a waste! The fact that his death could have been prevented with correct advice and care from those prescribing medications makes it all the more hard to bare,
The media really now needs to let this man rest in peace, especially since he found dealing with the media so hard while he was alive.
Heath, you will be missed!

175. they can call it an accident all they want he knew that those combinations were dangerous lesson unfortunately not learned

176. I know first hand what Pain Killers and Xanax (not to mention the rest of drugs in Heath's system) there is NO WAY that anyone that has these drugs prescribed to them does not know what the risks are.You know your own limits. Even if addicted to drugs you know how much is enough till you 'need' your next pill(s). Who are we to say this Man did this by 'accident'? I think we should all pray for his family, esp. his Child. One day she will read all we are writing. Think how you would feel if people sais your Dad commited suicide. I know it would make me feel. R.I.P HEATH.

177. Skye, yes, you know what your limits are and you know that meds can't be mixed. Too many people still work on the theory that if some is good then more is better. You are making the assumption that Heath was educated about the effects of these meds and what could be mixed and what couldn't. We don't know that. So the ME errs on the side of caution. It is accidental overdose unless it can be proven without a doubt that he intended to commit suicide. This is doubly important if he had any insurance policies since many will not pay out in case of suicide.
Always remember, Never ascribe to malice what can easily be explained by stupidity. I'm not saying that Heath was stupid merely that the evidence implies that he made a mistake.
