PETA Tells Pedro -- Go Cluck Yourself!

Pedro Martinez was caught on camera tossing roosters into a cockfight -- and now, PETA is throwing a high, hard one back at him for the deed.

In a letter obtained by TMZ, PETA slams Pedro for setting "a terrible example" for fans, especially the kids, and points out that Major League Baseball discourages its players from gambling of any kind.

What's more, say the animal-rights folks, roosters used in cockfights have their spurs shaved off and replaced by razors, and they're pumped with steroids to make them more aggressive -- sounds a lot like baseball!

The future Hall of Famer was pictured bringing roosters into the ring as an honorary saltador, as the New York Post reported, with Hall of Fame pitcher Juan Marichal. Cockfighting is legal in Martinez' native Dominican Republic. The Mets had no comment this afternoon.

77. #68..."Liberal Democrat"? You should be ashamed of yourself. I am, too. I guess being liberal doesn't always equate to having a heart. Gimme a break. Yeah, some people eat chiken. PETA doesn't like that. They have a right to their opinion. Caring about animals does not equal not caring about humans. That sounds more like a conservative thing to say. Doesn't even logically flow. You honestly think it's ok to put blades on these chicken's claws so that they tear each othes' flesh apart? Would you give you kid a big hug and say "Good job!" if he/she let one of these creatures into a ring to watch it tear apart another chicken? Go get YOUR priorities straight and grow a heart.

78. If it is a "cultural thing", then go do it in your Country and stay there! I am so sick of people coming from other Countries and wanting to make there money here, but then going back to THEIR own Country and complaining about the US. We can't come to your Country and change your laws, complain about your God, and you sure in the hell don't give me a check every month. If you come here legally, and want to stay, get a job, pay your taxes, and then adapt to our way.

82. PETA are a**hole terrorists. I get that you don't want to eat meat, wear leather or fur, etc. Fine. Nobody's forcing you to. But you don't have the right to tell me what to do either. It has nothing to do with whether it's a cultural norm in the DR. If it's not illegal than you can do as you please. Pedro has no right to be in the HoF because of this? What jerk said that. He has had a career well worthy of Cooperstown. He won a bleeding World Series, jackasses.
You PETA people are no better than the anti-abortion people. If you don't want to eat meat, don't. If you don't want to wear fur, don't. If you don't want to wear leather, don't. If you don't want to have an abortion, don't.
But this is a free country and I'm going to do as I see fit. And America will remain a free country as long as even one member of my family remains alive to defend it. The US was founded to be a place of freedom, both of thought and action. You idiots who are trying to control our behavior need to get the hell out and go somewhere where they appreciate thought police. I think that currently includes several arab states, a few countries in Africa, China, parts of Southeast Asia and one country in South America. Why don't you go there and see what people think of you? And by the way you might want to make out your wills before you go.

84. when i was little my family had three houses,for chicken,and each house held i think 10.000 chichens in each...when the baby chickens got there,there would be two or three people in each house,they had to grind the top beak all most off...our when they got bigger,they would cannabaliee each other....but i will never for get thah smell ,(i was 5 years old) i would go and watch the chickens,and they got big fast,most of the time i would get up and they would be gone.t i didnt no what went on..or what would happened to them,i would go in each house,(there were alway some left,or hurt,or someone had stepped on some) but it hurt me to see them,it was alway 20 or more left...i would go to house and feed and water them,(but i do no this they new i was going to feed and water them,they would try to get to me,) some got better,and some didnt,,,the ones that got better i would let them out on the farm..but as i got older i had seen,they were on there way to living hell,abd i have never eat chicken since...

87. after i went with my dad,and seen what they did to them,i will never get that out of my mine,they would back a truck of chickens up,and start to pull them out and hang then buy there leggs,they would send them in and this thing would cut there throats,but it would miss some,and there next stop was hot water,and there was a lot still alive....then they would have there feathers pulled out..and then they would go on to have there heads off and some would be alive when they cut there heads off.....when i got home i cryed all night.....and like i said i will never eat chicken agin

88. Kick them out of baseball. The Mets should do something about this. It is deplorable that these millionaries are so callous and heartless. I hate to be one of their children. They probably beat them up when they misbehave. Cruelty is in the heart and these two guys are surely cruel. The only way to stop these blood sports is to punish those that supports them. Kick them out of baseball.Let them go to play in the DR.

90. "It's a cultural thing" All of our ancestors participated in sick stuff but the difference is that some of us have evolved and some clearly have NOT. If your culture still finds this an acceptable "sport' than your culture is S-I-C-K and is NOT worthy of respect
