LAKE COUNTY, Ohio -- A local animal shelter has more to worry about than finding homes for the animals after the building's heating unit broke.

Workers at the Lake Humane Society were forced to close the doors and leave dozens of animals freezing.

One of those animals is Penelope the pig, who got lucky and was adopted Thursday afternoon. But other animals weren't so lucky.

Rick Gotliebowski is the operations manager at the shelter, and he said it is in big trouble.

"We've had to move all the animals back to a holding area and into the dog kennel area, which puts stress on the animals. But until we can get the heat up and running and get back in shape, we'll do the best we can for the animals," he said.

Gotliebowski said the shelter needs $17,000 for a new furnace. Until then, the animals will have to live inches away from each other, putting them in jeopardy of getting sick.

"This is heartbreaking, and I don't want to lose any of the animals because of the stress they're under now," said Gotliebowski. "It's not a matter of being a person that can come up here with $1,000, $2,000; $2, $5, anything helps the shelter in something like this."

The shelter hopes to have a heating until sometime next week, but it will have to take out a loan to purchase it.

99. #77 I think you might be right. And she also is a relationship or love addict....or whatever. Look how fast she got addcited/obsessed with Adnan. She's only known him about a month....and she's bawling and crying out for him in the hospital? She doesn't even seem to miss her kids....? She's SURE screwed up..... But start by detoxing her.....and then maybe sticking her in a 6 month rehab program. Then she couldn't do her "act" with all the paps (another addiction=fame.....attention...) 100. Poor girl...oh please .Yes she needs help thats a given but she's an addict. Addicts hang around other addicts , their drug dealers ( SAM ?!)
She wont get better until she admits she has a problem(s).
Dad and family know her better than anyone else ( SAM) and wont put up with any B.S.
She will get better but only if she really wants to . Right now she is a danger to herself and others..think car wreck..shudder
