UPDATE: Entertainment Weekly reports Amy will perform at the Grammys -- but via satellite.
Uncle Sam does not, not, not want Amy Winehouse! TMZ has learned the cracked-out singer will not perform at this year's Grammy Awards because her visa has been denied.
After the decision came down, her publicist issued the following statement: "Amy has been progressing well since entering a rehabilitation clinic two weeks ago and although disappointed with the decision has accepted the ruling and will be concentrating on her recovery."
No word on why the visa was denied, but perhaps this, this, this and getting caught on tape allegedly smoking crack might be to blame.
Winehouse, who has been in and out of rehab, also canceled a slew of tour dates this year.

Well, they denied John Lennon a VISA way back in the 60s because of a marijuana arrest. Different era, different drugs. It's too bad, she could have been really good for the Grammys (as long as she was sober). But she's doing the song for the next Bond movie, so that should be consolation.

Um, hello, let me interject some common freakin' sense into this equation for Amy crackhouse and her clueless publicist: If Amy is "progressing well" since enterting rehab ONLY TWO WEEKS AGO, then let her stay there until she gets at least 90 days (FYI: 90 days is closer to three months than two weeks). That skank should be more concerned with rehab and not so much with feeding her monstrous ego by showing up at The Grammys! Does Cambridge offer a class in Common Sense 101? Just wondering...
