UPDATE: Entertainment Weekly reports Amy will perform at the Grammys -- but via satellite.
Uncle Sam does not, not, not want Amy Winehouse! TMZ has learned the cracked-out singer will not perform at this year's Grammy Awards because her visa has been denied.
After the decision came down, her publicist issued the following statement: "Amy has been progressing well since entering a rehabilitation clinic two weeks ago and although disappointed with the decision has accepted the ruling and will be concentrating on her recovery."
No word on why the visa was denied, but perhaps this, this, this and getting caught on tape allegedly smoking crack might be to blame.
Winehouse, who has been in and out of rehab, also canceled a slew of tour dates this year.

Anyone who does filthy street drugs is a stupid fool. When she gets rid of those stupid ridiculous looking wingy things on her eyes, then I'll believe she's clean and sober. @6 you can't get a Visa Waiver if you have a criminal record, maybe also if it was work related she'd need another Visa for that.

Illegal immigrants do not have anything to do with the US government granting a visa to a person that has been charged for posession. You think the US government will tell a millionaire that has been charged for posession... Second... When you go get a visa, no matter who you are or where you are from, they do a background check ... and they see that you do or do not have any convictions... what makes you think that just because a student wanting here is from Arabia or Pakistan means that they are terrorist! Come on! And maybe some are or plan to be... but at least they didnt appear in camera smoking crack!! They didnt have past convictions so that is why they were granted a visa. It is like hiring someone with good reference... you still wont know they are going to be good employees. But is it your fault if they end up stealing from you? Nope! .
Regardless of what the crime is... it is illegal. That is what can't be allow in the US, So... because there are murderers in the US, we should let some killer come here? That is ridiculous! Same as saying that there are drugs here anyways!
When you apply for a Visa Waiver you have to sign that you are not a felon and also she comes to work, she needs a work Visa. If she comes with a tourist visa and works, then she may get deported and unable to enter the US for a longer period of time.
amy winehouse was the ONLY reason i was going to watch (and the only reason TO watch because everything else is TOTAL GARBAGE).
i'll be watching something else that night.
