UPDATE: Entertainment Weekly reports Amy will perform at the Grammys -- but via satellite.
Uncle Sam does not, not, not want Amy Winehouse! TMZ has learned the cracked-out singer will not perform at this year's Grammy Awards because her visa has been denied.
After the decision came down, her publicist issued the following statement: "Amy has been progressing well since entering a rehabilitation clinic two weeks ago and although disappointed with the decision has accepted the ruling and will be concentrating on her recovery."
No word on why the visa was denied, but perhaps this, this, this and getting caught on tape allegedly smoking crack might be to blame.
Winehouse, who has been in and out of rehab, also canceled a slew of tour dates this year.

Well, Aretha is receiving an award and Cher is presenting, so there's "A" list divadom on Sunday.
The girl was coming here to perform at the Grammy's....not to sell drugs to 12 year old kids on our street corners like the good 'ol American citizens do! The Grammy's are so boring...everyone sounds alike...looks alike and makes the music business look like it's nearing the "end times." You get a one in a million voice out there...and what does this holier than thou country do? Yep...keep all the bad guys out...because no one else on that stage or in that audience is on drugs! We know you have to be selective...we wouldn't want to take up a seat on an airline...when we might not give some terrorist a chance to come here and plan our demise. This must be a movie...it can't be real life..........
yes you are correct we dont need visas to visit the states for up to ninety days but need visas for work.. thats what was turned down and rightly so, the girl needs to stick to her recovery programme and get away from that evil pothead husband who is making a bad situation even worse..amy whine o house is a huge talent.. but she is a crackhead..and unless she comes off the stuff she will be dead.even her parents are so fed up that at one time they called for the pubic to stop buying her records so she wouldnt have the money to buy the stuff to snort up her nose.!!!she has sensible loving parents but what can you do with children who wont listen and have money to do what they want to do.?

bummer...like her music. maybe it's a good thing...guess some of her live shows sucked. now we'll never know..it would have been interesting though to see the trainwreck in action. and i have 2 words for Britney....STAY HOME!

Interesting that the USA won't allow Winehouse in - who isn't coming to suck off the system - but they let millions of illegals in who deplete our school systems, abuse our health system, traffic drugs, infiltrate our neighborhoods with their gangs, refuse to speak the language and ignore our laws. And after Hillary, Obama or McCain are elected, they'll be allowed to stay and get even more benefits! This place is GREAT! Yippee - what a country!
But I digress. Hopefully Amy is getting the help she needs.
