Coroner: Renfro Overdosed on Heroin

In a sad conclusion to a tragic life, the Los Angeles County Coroner confirmed that actor Brad Renfro died from an accidental overdose of heroin.

The cause of death was ruled "acute heroin/morphine intoxication," and the drugs were injected, according to the coroner's office. "The final manner of death has been ruled an accident," the coroner reported. The 25-year-old former child actor was found dead in his L.A. home on January 15.

TMZ was at a court hearing last August when Renfro told a judge he was trying to get his life back together and get clean. He had been scheduled to return to court on February 27 for a status check.

31. How can it be considered "accidental"??? When you shoot herion aren't you playing Russian Roulette w/your life?? Did he accidentally fall on the needle and inject himself??? STOOOOPID!

32. How can overdosing on heroin be called an accident? If you use that crap, you take your chances.

34. A best friend I grew up with and lost touch with in the last couple of years because of different friends and interests recently died at age 21 becuase of the same thing. It's disturbing; addiction that is. I feel so bad for the family, don't live with regret and guilt. He was an adult.

35. An "accidental" overdose is when a pharmacy accidentally gives you the wrong prescription dose and you die because of it. If you're doing drugs and you die as a result... that's not accidental. That's stupid.

37. For those who come here degrading the reputation of someone who's gone because you feel compelled to judge him as a result of his addictions, you CANNOT make the sweeping assumption that an addict is somehow inferior to your existence and deserves his fate. Your behavior is not only in poor taste, but shows your complete lack of empathy towards another fellow human being. Yes, Brad Renfro suffered from drug abuse problems throughout his life, but that doesn't warrant your insensitivity or cruel comments. To say that someone deserves to die because they either made one bad choice or came to depend on substances as a form of coping mechanism is both nonsensical and inhumane. Brad Renfro was an amazing person and an amazing actor. He had the ability to captivate movie goers with each and every one of his characters. He gave it his all as an actor, and his legacy should be that of a talented young actor gone too soon. Irregardless, he was someone's son, brother, cousin, father. Let's not forget this.

So while I will be mourning the death of Heath Ledger with the rest of the world, as he was a great actor who's life was tragically cut short far too soon, I will be saddened by Brad Renfro's death for years to come. Regardless of the lack of media coverage of his death, and regardless of the many nasty comments certain people feel compelled to leave, he will always be the talented gifted actor who gave us so much, and whom I will never forget.

38. Well, Joey, it's not that I don't have compassion (and BTW, I never stuck needles in myself). I'm plenty compassionate, and feel for his loved ones. I'm simply saying that if you have this kind of problem and the resources to get help, and you continue to destroy yourself anyway, it's STUPID!

41. 28. Jesus, what are young guys like this doing shooting herion? I thought shooting up went out back in the 70's and was still only done by middle aged hard core drug addicts in flop houses.

Heroin made a huge comeback here on the east coast when people started getting addicted to Oxycontin in early 2000's when doctors were writing scripts left and right. Perdue Pharma got sued for misleading advertising after a lot over overdose deaths and the Oxy supply dried up. Thing is, Oxy gives the same high as heroin, and heroin is cheaper. Opiates are opiates.

anyone who does herion chooses to be addicted, they all think they will be keith richards and live to a ripe old age,and they all know keith richards is just a joyful freak of nature, anyone who does junk know's they could become addicted the first time they do it,before they do the stuff there is a choice especially with heroin because everyone knows how additive it is,after the first hit,you are right, there is no choice, but there is re-hab,that is another choice, when you are clean there is no physical pull to heroin or any other substance, there is a psycological pull and again if you are craving you have a choice to get help or stick a needle in your arm,now not all people know there choices but this kid did,and he chose to walk to his dealers instead of walking for help,as a educated junkie renfro knew the danger's,he just didn't care,or was arrogant enough in that moment to think he would be ok,another dead junkie who dies just reminds me why i should never do drugs, just in case i want to make the choice to put a needle in my arm when i am completley clean.renfro was STUPID and that was his right to be stupid.but there are consequeses for being stupid.just ask heath and brtiney and kirsten...

43. Seems to me its no "accident" when you inject poison into your body.....seems like that ruling is given to give the family and friends some closure in a "positive" way. Let's face it ...you play with fire and you can get burned.
