183. Never been a fan of Yoko Ono and never will be but John Lennon saw something in her and obviously loved her. The artistic world lost much when he was murdered and he was a much more prolific writer than Paul McCartney could ever hope to be. However, to sue over a name? I think Ono lives for the spotlight. The way she treated Julian Lennon was just disgusting. That he had to fight for a piece of his fathers legacy was shameful. Yoko, respect John's legacy and remember him for the visionary he was. sueing because someone has or uses the name Lennon is childish.

184. I hate it when stars get too egotistical and nasty. Really, Lennon isn't Yoko's name, is it? She's Yoko Ono. Don't believe she ever took Lennon as her legal last name. And for heaven's sake, NO ONE will mistake the band, Lennon, with the late, great John. If it's the gal's real name, be fair and let her use HER OWN NAME for her band. Don't be so freakin hoggy, Yoko.

188. Ironic how Yoko isn't suing her own son, Sean Lennon or making music under that name.
If anything I thing Sean Lennon causes MUCH more confusion than just Lennon, being that there is relation between sean, and john, and they sound so much alike...... in fact, since Lennon Murphy does in fact hold the TM on Lennon, I think that SHE should sue Sean. because of the confusion he causes toward her record sales, and then maybe Sean can sue the Lennon sisters. and this can go on for years so that we ALL have something to talk about. This is absolutely ridiculous. If Yoko wanted the trademark she should have gotten in the last 23 years that she had the option. You cannot decide after someone has it, that you want it, thats childish, and not what this country is about. It is even more appalling to read yoko to be a citizen of Japan, fully willing to utilize our court system, and her money to muscle people out of their birth given names. But not willing to become a citizen on the home she has had for the past 30 years? This whole situation is deplorable, she ruined the beatles, has done more damage to John's name than anyone else could conceive, and its time for her to go back.

192. I have been reading through some of the comments made here, being a fan of the artist Lennon as well as the person Lennon Murphy (who I have met many times at shows, and she has shown herself to be a wonderful human being as well as a gifted musical artist).

some comments I have:

1. Saying that Lennon Murphy would hold the trademark on the name "Lennon" and all forms of it should check out the musical scene. If this is true, who holds the trademark for the work "Pink", the artist "Pink" (aka, Alecia Moore, going by a nickname), able to sue the band "Pink Floyd" or block the trademark of their name (or vice versa) because of the confusion it creates? Or does Ms. Moore has control over any use the word "Pink" through her trademark, in all forms, as a musical artist?

2. As a musician, what name did John Lennon use? I believe he went through a band named "The Beatles". Since his death, albums have been released through the use of his name....his name of "John Lennon". Not "Lennon".

3. Anyone making a person attack on any individual in the name of John Lennon should really look at themselves in the mirror and go "I am a hypocrite". Plain and simple. If you look at the legacy of John Lennon and what he is known for, you find a man dedicated to peace and understanding.

4. To state that the artist Lennon has tried to make a quick buck or gain fame by confusing her name with John Lennon is also sorely mistaken and very short sighted. She has fought for where she is right now. She left her record label, Arista Records, due to their desire for her to pursue a musical direction she did not want to. Instead, she worked on developing her own label and producing her albums independently so she had the musical control. If you see this as taking an easy road to fame and fortune, then there is something to be said for your viewpoints on the world.

I view this lawsuit as something that is frivolous and an attempt either by a lawyer to gain more money or someone to gain a total monopoly on a word. If Yoko Ono is able to trademark the name "Lennon" in all forms, then Julian Lennon AND Sean Lennon should be very worried that if they ever make her mad, they would lose their musical careers. Additionally, it could create a slippery slope when it comes to titles. No longer would bands be able to emulate a favorite artist or use a nickname, for fear of "infringing" on the copy write or trademark of another. In fact, if Pink Floyd or Pink wanted to, they could block the other from ever using their name again. Creed and Creedence Clearwater Revival should be in court over the use of the word "Creed". The list would go on and on.

This is just my thoughts. Agree or disagree as you will. But truly, as you read about how this story unfolds, look beyond it simply being "Yoko Ono" vs. "Lennon Murphy". Think instead of what ramifications it could have depending on how it unfolds. Not just for these two individuals, but for anyone who performs under a name (whether their given name, taken name, or the name of someone they once had relations with) in the future.

195. lennon is her given name since birth. yoko can't make her change her name. what yoko is doing right now is making lennon murphy more famous by the minute. great job yoko-keep it up-i'm sure lennon murphy appreciates the free advertising. who cares about yoko anyway, no one listens to that old hag.
