Lynne and Britney Spears did a little mother/daughter bonding this afternoon on Melrose Ave. -- and it didn't involve lawyers, doctors, or restraining orders!
The pair got their shop on at Miss 5150 Sixty in Los Angeles. Considering all of Brit's finances are controlled by the conservators these days, do you think mama footed the bill?
121. She manages to make every contemporary shirt into an off-the-shoulder number. IF she's bi-polar and supposedly now under a doctor's care i.e. taking meds for it, why is she still acting out (dressing provocatively) as if she's in a manic state? People have tried to justify her exhibitionism by blaming it on the mania but...I'm not seeing that. I see an egocentric person who knows that people will pay attention to her when she's almost completely undressed. Like a child, bad attention is better than no attention, I guess.
Even as a teen, she dressed provocatively and then justified it by saying that the outfits were just "costumes" for her to sing and dance in and she didn't dress like that in "real life." Hell-o! I remember a time when she'd been famous for a couple of years and she broke from her "tarty" image and appeared completely covered up: loosefitting but stylish turtleneck, jeans and a natural dark blond haircolor. No bare midriff, no cleavage hanging out, no bleached-out bimbo hair, no overdone eyeliner. She looked beautiful. I wish she could see herself through those eyes instead of dressing out of desperation for attention. It is so sad.

122. 119...not "every woman" needs to shop to feel better. Most of us lean on our family and friends when we need support. Rather than shopping fro herself every day, she should think about her kids once in a while. And yes. she does look an 80's reject/slutty/fashion disaster.

124. I'm glad that Britney's parents have decided to do what is necessarry to help get her back on track. People criticize her parents, but it is almost impossible to control the behavior of an adult child without legal intervention. Please give these parents a break, they seem to be trying extremely hard. None of us are perfect parents, and we don't all have perfect children.

125. I don't understand why the dumb bitch can't stay inside for a while. Why does she even bother to buy a house? She refuses to spend any time in her house. She is either cruising all over LA or wasting her money going to hotels. I would like to see the inside of her house, to see if she has taken time to decorate and furnish it like a home, or if it's as impersonal and cold as an average-price motel room. I don't say she shouldn't ever want to go outside. God knows she loves the papparazzi attention and all, but seriously folks, why bother to buy a house if you refuse to spend any quality time in it?

126. she does look thinner. Usually the first place a woman gains or loses weight where it's noticeable is in the upper arms. she's young enough that if she eats better and works out or dances every day, she would lose some weight pretty fast. I hope she has.

129. Yes, MH, exactly! She dresses that way to get attention. She is childish mentally, she appears to suffer from an extreme case of arrested development, and mentally she behaves like a 15 year old. She would rather have bad attention than no attention at all. Arrested development is a mental condition. But I agree with whoever said that at least she is shopping at a normal time of day with her mom, and that is progress. There may be hope for her yet.

130. She needs serious professional help, alright. And it's doubtful anybody's going to be fooled by "innocent sweet brit" stories if her parents did hire somebody to clean up her image. But at least they are trying. There is that. She needs their support in the worst way. And I hope and pray they don't remove her father as conservator yet. she's not ready.

131. Britney needs to LEARN to dress better, she needs to be TAUGHT. There are some people who just have no sense of class and dignity and need to be taught. My cousin was like that. she couldn't match up a decent outfit by herself for anything. I don't fully understand why looking in the mirror doesn't tell Britney (or myc ousin) what looks good and what looks trashy, but that's how it is. Those who don't have the talent or whatever to look classy, need to be taught. Lynne taught Britney to dress like a pint sized hooker to make money. then Brit grew up and wouldn't let Lynne teach her anything else. As to my cousin, well, her mom dressed like a Baptist church lady on Sunday morning, so I don't know ... one extereme to the other?

132. 86, Britney gives every indication of having the mental level of a rebellious 15 or 16 year old turned loose to do as she pleases. It's arrested development. It fits in her case. But I don't believe she is bipolar. That's a catch all phrase for everything these days when somebody acts different than the rest. I think she was probalby doing some drugs too, but most of all, she's just not mature as a 26 year old woman is supposed to be.

133. I think by letting her parents try to help her, she is fighting for her kids. That's all she can do right now, just clean up her act and prove to the courts that she has changed for the better.
