You Take the Good, You Take the Bad

The 81-year-old grandmother of two resurfaced at a hospital parking lot in West Hollywood last week, looking pleasant.

To bolster ratings in 1985, producers had Mrs. Garrett's bakery, Edna's Edibles, destroyed and replaced by the Over Our Heads gift shop. Rae left the series the following year.

Charlotte's mother was a childhood friend of late Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir.

76. I remember me and my friend (who also wanted to build our own Edna's Edibles) were mad as hell when Mrs. Garrett left. I even had a long-standing grudge against Cloris Leachman for it. Fortunately I've come to like her as Phyllis on The Mary Tyler Moore Show.

77. Her Britney Spears like "flash of the beaver" to the camera seemed unnecessary. She should be more lady like!

What you talkin' bout, Willis?

83. I think that she looks wonderful. She always had a way about her and by the looks of her now, I am sure it hasn't changed. Good show Charlotte.

84. For some reason, I always use my own grandmother as a barometer to judge how well other people age. My grandmother just turned 79, and looks like what Charlotte probably looked like 20 years ago. She spent the first 40 years of her life living on a farm, eating only the food that they grew/made themselves. She never dyed her hair or wore much makeup (I think I've seen her wear foundation only a handful of times, and lipstick only to church on Sundays). She never smoked, doesn't drink much at all. In short, she hasn't done anything that would make her age. Therefore, at the age of 79, she has only a few little tufts of grey hair in the front, a few wrinkles (but none of that face folding over/jowl-y mess), and she's still pretty active. The key to aginging gracefully is to avoid messing up your body/skin/hair, etc.
