Lets Get This Party Started
Britney Wants Ahnuld to Help Her?

Britney Spears wants to talk to the Governator about her "civil rights" -- but does she really need his help getting legal assistance?

TMZ reported earlier this week that Spears has enlisted disso-queen Laura Wasser to help her out, but Gatecrasher reports that her not-really-manager Sam Lutfi is trying to get through to Gov. Schwarzenegger to make her legal woes go away. "Britney says her civil rights have been violated and she wants to talk to Arnold about it," says a source.

Of course, keep in mind that it's Lutfi who is making the contact, and he's persona non grata in the Spears fray right now.

Heidi Cried All Night After Video Hatred

Heidi Montag found out the dark side of publicity whoredom, and it made her cry herself to sleep.

After reading the scathing slams of her "music video" for "Higher," Heidi tells Us that she "just started sobbing uncontrollably ... I just couldn't understand why people I didn't even know felt the need to be so cruel and hurtful toward me."

Good thing Heidi's got Spencer Pratt to buck her up: He says he held her and said, "This is just part of being an artist. If it were easy, everyone would be a pop star." That's the most brilliant thing he's ever said.

Party Favors: Miley and Dad Apologize for Belt Boo-boo ... Rihanna Celebrates at Les Deux ... Robbie Williams Nonplussed About Neighbor Paris

Miley Cyrus and daddy Billy Ray are apologizing for not buckling their seat belts in the "Hannah Montana" concert movie while riding in an SUV. "We got caught up in the moment of filming," says B.R. to People. ... Rihanna celebrated her 20th birthday at Les Deux Tuesday night with Kanye West, Wilmer Valderrama and rumored boytoy Chris Brown, who sang to the Umbrella songstress. ... Robbie Williams recently discovered that Paris Hilton has a new house five doors down from him, and he's not very happy about it, says the Sun. "I think it's safe to say Robbie will not be popping round to her house for a cup of tea."

46. 9:51, irish, thanks, if you have ever listened to a hard rock station, you may have heard it. It is one of my favorite songs! I have never seen a song that is so appropriate in some ways! In the end, it simple asks for change.

47. Thank you Baseball J., I don't know what made me think of this song, but it is so........political? Correct? I don't know? Not everyone is a tool fan and I can't fault them for it. It is an amazing piece of social commentary! It just oozes the frustration so many feel. But at the end of the day,I hope some people can figure things out before we are all doomed-- and that is NOT a political comment meant for anyone! Just a statement of fact. Peace to all!

50. Britney doesn't need Arnold, she needs JESUS!

51. Baseball Junkie:

I understand that. And so there's some doubt as to whether it's really from Britney or not. But the fact remains that her civil rights are being violated, regardless of whether or not she sent the message through Sam.

54. Neil, I think the line may be a bit blurred there considering her previous actions but I understand what you're saying. In this nanny-state, it's hard to tell when the government is trying to protect us from other people, ourselves or itself. Well, no, the government is never going to admit that we need protection from it. Overturn the dominant paradigm. VOTE.

DALLAS, aren't they one and the same? ;-)

57. LOCK SAM UP:

"Obviously she was declared menatally unfit and/or unable to manage her life."

If she was declared mentally unfit, then she wouldn't have been able to check herself out of the psych ward against her doctor's wishes. If she had been declared mentally unfit, then the conservators would not have had to go to court to ask that she not be allowed to hire a lawyer (the declaration of mental unfitness would have prevented that).

As for "declared... unable to manage her life" -- that's not a legal or medical term. But imagine if it were. Imagine if a person could be declared "unable to manage their life" and could have conservators appointed because of it. Could you imagine all the people who would have other people (parents, adult children, whomever) taking them to court because they're "unable to manage their own life"??

Fortunately, that's not the case. A person can't just have their finances and freedom taken away simply because they make bad decisions! Except if you're Britney Spears.

"We are not privy to the reason there is a temp conserv, so no, her civil rights have not been violated."

Well, it's a temporary conservatorship. Sometimes those are granted just to deal with a situation. The situation was that she was in the hospital, and I'd imagine the court expected her to be there for the full two weeks, which she was not. Hence, the two week conservatorship. I expect the conservatorship to be lifted today, which would be the right thing to do. If there truly was a medical reason, if a doctor had declared her mentally unfit, then there would be no issue. The conservatorship would remain in effect until that declaration was lifted. The fact that they're going to court shows that that's not the case.

58. resolved:

"I would rather see her under a conservatorship and alive than be hanging offa cliff and dead from the influence of Sam Lutfi."

I agree. So does everyone. But does that mean it's the right thing to take away her rights and "force" her to do the right thing? Should we do that with everyone who's screwing up their lives? Should we just start taking away peoples' finances and assigning conservators to them if they seem to be making wrong choices? That would be a frightening prospect for society, in general.

And simply because Britney's a celebrity and her life is all over the media, doesn't mean she's not a person with civil rights. This isn't a serial drama that we want to end well before the season's over. This is a person who has no freedom and no access to her finances (that she, herself, earned, since she was a teenager). If this happened to you, if someone took away access to your bank accounts and prohibited you from making decisions without their permission because otherwise you might make the wrong decision, you'd be crying foul.
