It's a Family Affair! Brit's Bro Now in the Mix Too!

2/14/2008 7:37 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF

A judge has granted a request to have Britney's older brother, Bryan, be named as the trustee of his sister's trust.
Read the docs
30-year-old Bryan and attorney Ivan Taback have been granted the authority to serve as co-trustees.

According to documents filed today, Britney is the sole trustee of the trust. But, according to the trust, "an individual Trustee shall cease to act as Trustee hereunder if he or she is under a legal disability or if by reason of illness or mental or physical disability, in the written opinion of two doctors then practicing medicine, he or she is unable to manage his or her affairs."

Since Bryan and Ivan Taback were named successor co-trustees, they assume control. Stacy Smith is also named a successor co-trustee, but had previously declined her appointment.

Silly girl

britalicious,

if bryan is so WONDERFUL, then why did he ask to be COMPENSATED FOR HIS THIS? a really concerned family member wouldn't do that. i am sure she gave him lots of money over the years, place to live, living expenses. his fault if he can't get a real job and support himself. i know the father doesn't appear to be after her money. and her momma at least just takes her shopping but expects britney to pay her for her mothering by a new wardrobe. but to straight out ask for it is kind of funny. a financial expert can ask to be compensated because he has a degree but i guess that's how the brother rolls. yes, he can ask to be compensated but what does that show everyone.? only doing it for the money not for britney. and no i don't think sam or any "friend" should hold that position. a neutral party would be best because it would be better for the family dynamics. if you think money and family mix, how old are you? get some life experience because it's the oldest tale in the book, it never ever ends well.

Its easy to feel a little jealous about their fame and fortune.....heck ...i do...and i dont even know them....but they are all a really good looking family.....and britneys career didnt just happen overnight....she worked along time before reaching the top.......and as far as her family living off her money all those years...even when she was a mousekateer........her mother sacrificed her career to help her daughter further hers.....and if she was working as her agent ...of course she should have been paid......and besides that....

that is what being a family is....sacrifice....and togetherness.....give and take.....and share......

sure i only wish i could be rich and famous.......and am a wee bit jealous......especially because britney ...seems a little bit too arrogant....espcially since her fans have stuck with her thru so much of the craziness......i feel that she should be thankful......not arrogant....

but....since i cant be rich and famous.....i can only wish her the best of health to her and her family......and hope that they suceed in making her better......

Laura, I think you need to re-read the Petition. The party requesting compensation is co-trustee Ivan Taback, an attorney. He asks the court to approve compensation FOR LEGAL SERVICES that he has performed, in his capacity as an attorney, on behalf of Britney's estate. In fact, Taback specifically states that he is not making a request at this time for compensation of his fees as trustee. Nothing at all about Bryan's compensation (which, by the way, is provided for in the trust), so I don't know where you have the notion that Bryan is doing this for the money. But even if he were paid, management of a trust with considerable income-earning assets and multiple corporations like the ones Britney has will be a full-time job, so Bryan would be effectively employed on a full-time basis co-managing the trust estate.
