NBC on Fonda's "C*nt": That's News, Folks!

Despite Jane Fonda's little "rhymes-with-hunt" moment this morning, NBC says it has no plans to guard against similar morning emissions in the future.

A "Today" show rep tells TMZ, "It's a news show. There is no tape delay, and there won't be a tape delay." We also called "Good Morning America," where Diane Keaton infamously dropped an F-bomb on Diane Sawyer, and they've got no plans to delay at all.

As for CBS' "Early Show," they're also live, says a rep, and won't be using a delay. And we called the FCC a few times to see if they'll be penalizing NBC or requiring a tape delay because of Citizen Jane's slip, but so far, not a peep (or a bleep).

31. To "13:" - she is no longer Ted Turner's wife - they divorced quite a few years ago.

This word has always been referenced as one of the worst things you can call a woman - and it certainly was not appropriate for it to come out on an early morning television show - did anyone see the look on Meredith's face - priceless - she looked like she was about to vomit and run off the stage screaming in horror - but you have to move on - and she did. Jane Fonda is just an old has-been with very poor taste - she's shown her true colors, no class whatsoever. If the FCC can fine CBS for Janet's boob-incident, then NBC should certainly be fined for this slip of the tongue - even George Carlin admits that this is one of the "Super Swear Words" that should never be uttered in a public setting - let alone on T.V. Janet's incident was an accident (poor wardrobe construction), but Jane knew exactly what she was saying - most likely done on purpose because she's so non-existent in the entertainment world lately.

33. I wonder if Hanoi Jane can say 'C**T' in Vietnamese? Seems like every couple of years this dried up old crone crawls out from under a rock and feels the need to remind us all that she is, in fact, still among the living. Yipee. We're reminded, go back under your rock now Jane....

36. They were discussing the famous play called The Vagina Monologues. THE VAGINA MONOLOGUES.

Maybe they should've changed the name for tv and called the play the Va-Jay-Jay Monologues? Haaaaaaaa....

Okay everybody, lunchtime over. Back to work. Oh, yeah. If you ever have a chance? You should see The Vagina Monologues. I think one of the cable channels--HBO??--showed a production of it. Don't remember if they used the word that rhymes with Hunt or not...maybe they changed the dialog and said "the word that rhymes with Hunt" instead???????

40.

I really don't get why everyone cares so much. She made a gaffe, on the spot, and that's it. So what? I definitely think context is important when discussing the use of words that have been deemed inappropriate. They were discussing the Vagina Monologues and she was explaining her first impression upon being asked to do the play. That is certainly a far cry from some misogynistic abusive name-calling situation.

It was interesting for about 5 minutes, and now it's over. I hope TMZ can put the "Jane Fonda C*nt Fiasco" to rest now.

Debbie (#35)--since when does being a Christian mean you never use off-color words? That sounds a bit judgmental to me, and isn't "judge not lest ye be judged" in the Bible? Hmm.....

44. Take a look at the "Today Show" website, and play the interview - they have now edited the sound-bite so that you don't hear what she said - you don't think they feel akward and scared of fines? On no NBC or NBC affiliate website will you ever hear it again - if they should be soooo proud of it - why edit it out? And what a patetic apology from Meredith - it should have come straight from Fonda's mouth.

NBC SHOULD BE FINED FOR THE USE OF A WORD NOT ALLOWED ON NETWORK TELEVISION - PLAIN AND SIMPLE. IF ITS GOOD ENOUGH TO FINE IMUS AND CBS FOR A BOOB - THEN NBC SHOULD TAKE THE HEAT OVER SOMETHING THAT COULD HAVE BEEN COMPLETELY AVOIDED WITH A 3-SECOND DELAY.

45. She was citing the name of a play. It's not like she was just throwing the word around!
